How well are you able to protect Stoneforge Mystic and Batterskull? I feel as if that is the one knock against Abzan Deathblade. I really like this, however!

Is Horizon Canopy really that helpful? I feel as if another Savannah would be better.

I don't really have any other suggestions for this; I think it is as close to polished as you can get.

I did think about adding in Mom to protect Stoneforge, but that's more of a Maverick list. Really, I rely heavily on my discard to get rid of removal against fair decks. An absolutely brutal play is T1 Thoughtseize, T2 Hymn to Tourach, T3 LoTV and +1. They shouldn't have a hand after that lol. I can then lay a threat like SFM or Goyf, or play Bob to generate some CA. Every match is different and requires different lines of play, which makes this deck fantastic as a toolbox/pseudo control build.

I'm trying out the Canopy as a funsie, I suppose. Draw on a land slot is nice and I def see your point about the Savannah. Thanks for the props!

I'm playing Jund this weekend in Vegas, I might switch to this if "low to the ground" doesn't work. I like the Swords to Plowshares and Stoneforge, that seems more relevant than Lightning Bolt and Punishing Fire

Abzan has better answers to problem permanents, for sure. Being able to exile stuff is better, IMO. Council's Judgment can hit True-Name Nemesis, which is a thing. Lingering Souls plus equipment definitely can seal the game! I've seen Punishing Abzan, which uses Grove and Punishing Fire, but it definitely stretches the mana base, which I'm not a fan of.

5-4 in Vegas with this deck. I like it. Straight up midrange in a world of unfair. I made a few minor changes but still kept the 61st card for good luck.

Kick ass, man! Can you post your list and a match recap?

Abzan Midrange, No Gimmicks

Round 1 was a loss to UR Delver, Round 2 was Punishing Fire Knight of the Reliquary, also loss, then win against a white Eldrazi, win against a Death and Taxes very similar to the one that won, then I lost to burn, putting me at needing to win out for day 2, so then I won against another burn, won against a really weird mono blue deck using Judge's Familiar and Mausoleum Wanderer thanks to Sword of Fire and Ice, won against a Leoblade, won against another Eldrazi, and then finally lost in the last round to a BUG Delver. All fair matches the whole way through, it was weird. Saw some combo decks around the tables, just didn't face one.
