A whole new form of weenies.
A deck based of the original Mono-Blue Martyr by the wonderful Gregory Hatch
This deck is based off of the concept of slow rolling your opponents, and killing them off either with the sky hussar, or Nivmagus Elementaling a Gigadrowse.
Card Choices
Card advantage:
Sky Hussar: Being able to tap down the martyrs allow us to generate absurd card advantage in an additional 1-3 cards each turn.
Ninja of the Deep Hours: Early turn attacks with martyrs normally end up being unblocked, so why not exchange those martyrs for more cards?
Sage of Epityr: allows us to set up our next few draws quickly.
Aether Vial: Gives us the ability to vial in a martyr in response to a spell or a Sage of Epityr for deck manipulation.
Snapback: This "Free" Unsummon works great against major threats or twin decks.
Martyrs
Cursecatcher, Martyr of Frost, & Judge's Familiar: These cards form the core of this deck, with cheap mana costs that act as pseudo Force Spike
Counters
Mana Tithe: Our modern substitution to Force Spike, allowing us to get away with t1 countering a Delver of Secrets, Wild Nacatl, and other high priority 1/2 drop spells.
Deprive: Due to the absence of [[counterspell], this will have to make due.
Remand: a simple bounce counter that allows us to pseudo Time Walk.
Voidmage Prodigy: Due to the large amount of wizards in this deck, this more often than not allows for a reusable Counterspell.
Commandeer: allows us to stop decks that rely on planeswalkers, artifacts, and high CMC spells in their tracks.
Disrupting Shoal: In a format such as modern with a large tendency for popular spells to be cheaply costed, we can either hard cast or remove one of the many spells that fit the curve needed for this spell.
Win Conditions
Skaab Ruinator: A cheap 5/6 can be a game finisher, and we can often bypass the additional cost by using Aether Vial to cheat it in.
Nivmagus Elemental & Gigadrowse: Nivmagus gives us that ability to eat all the replicated copies that Gigadrowse makes converting them into 2 +1/+1 counters for 1 mana.
