Sideboard

Oh snap....I'm about to pull the RUG out from underneath ya! (well, it's 4 color now but the comment still stands!)

Alt text

My first attempt at 4 color control in standard. Win cons are mostly planeswalkers

OBJECTS OF THIS DECK:- Keep pushing out threats until I have an overwhelming board state. A good mix of 'walkers and creatures should accomplish this quite nicely. Jace, Architect of Thought and Keranos, God of Storms keep my hand full around turn 5+. Keranos, God of Storms keeps damage up OR draws me an extra card if I top deck a land so I can keep pumping out my win cons. Courser of Kruphix also helps the draw engine as he cycles through my lands and allows me to reach the colors that I need

                          ==THE CREATURES==
  • Courser of Kruphix = nice top deck fixer that pairs nicely with Keranos, God of Storms as well as stellar vs aggressive strategies/burn decks

  • Sylvan Caryatid = 2 drop rampers to put me ahead of the curve. also blocks REALLY well against aggressive decks

  • AEtherling = awesome finisher for ANY midrange/control deck running blue!

                      ==THE SUPERFRIENDS==

                     ==REMOVAL SUITE==

                    ==MISC SUPPORT CARDS==
  • *Dissolve = deals with any cards that are hard for me to deal with

  • Elixir of Immortality = gains me some life against aggressive strategies/burn decks and also reshuffles my win cons back into my library during long games

                            ==SIDEBOARD==
  • Drown in Sorrow = board wipe against aggro decks

  • Gainsay = good counterspell vs monoblue OR UW/Esper decks

  • Negate = comes in to help out against Boros Burn and against control decks

  • Nylea's Disciple = nice threat that offsets life loss against Burn/aggressive decks

  • Polis Crusher = Laughs at gods' attempts to win through combat and can even kill a Detention Sphere or one of several enchantment creatures once he's monstrous. Not to mention UW control can't target him with Detention Sphere or Banishing Light

  • Sylvan Primordial = Midrange and control decks LOVE "non creatures", so he's perfect for this job. The amount of "ramp" that is in this deck makes it kind of easy to get him onto the field as well

  • Rakdos's Return = another of these babies in the sideboard against midrange/control matchups

  • Doom Blade = when I need to add some more removal against aggressive non-black decks

  • Vraska the Unseen = when I need some more nonland permanent removal that can still be a win con

Updates Add

i was originally keeping Polis Crusher in the sideboard to deal with the gods and any opposing enchantments, however he couldn't COMPLETELY deal with them. So I have added Unravel the Aether to shuffle them away (albeit a slim chance of them coming back within a turn or 2 depending on how many of them they run).

It also helps me deal with things like Assemble the Legion, Banishing Light, and Detention Sphere
