I'd say go from red to blue, and add in the simic guild if you want counters. You can pull the archetype of aggression for nylea god of the hunt and xenagos for kiora.

@backfire96, what i am going for in this deck is to pump up a creature with xenagos' ability, then to sac said creature with scourge of skola vale, giving him those counters, and with something like corpsejack menace out it would double the counters on scourge, switching to blue would veer away from the goal i set in the description, which i do not want to do. Thanks though!

So if this is supposed to act like an augmented hydra deck, you should add primordial hydra. really solid hydra. You should also still add nylea instead of the archetype imo. The +2/+2 activated ability can still go to a creature that is being sacrificed to the scourge, since it only looks at toughness i believe

whoops my bad. its not. I did a draft with m12 and kept telling myself it was a standard core set

I've been thinking of the same kind of deck. With Xenagod and Corpsejack, shit gets insane. Adding Lotleth Troll can help pump himself as well as Varolz. Definitely need at least 24/25 land for jund. You're already gaining life with Courser of Kruphix so why not switch out Devour Flesh for Hero's Downfall to help deal with planewalkers and pick up two or three Mistcutter Hydra . +1 for your deck. I do need some help myself, please check out my deck and give me some feedback? :D

If you are going to be saccing a huge creature why not add Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord ? May as well do large amounts of damage to the face instead of creating a big creature that can get doom bladed
February 25, 2014 4:22 p.m.
@plaguejaw, id probably end up switching out putrefy for hero's downfall if anything, i feel like devour flesh could really help if i need the life and cant attack for whatever reason. Mystcutter hydras could work too, thanks! ill look into it
@tendererboatHe is already in there! :)

How about Vastwood Hydra ? If you sac him you can then add the counters to whatever creature you choose.
March 17, 2014 8:21 p.m.
@Raishen717 He looks perfect! I will play around with seeing who i could take out for it. :) Thanks!

@kevin916 No problem! Always glad to see a deck come together well!
March 17, 2014 8:31 p.m.
@Raishen717 wouldnt that mean i could add the counters to whatever creature i choose, AND if i sacced him with Scourge of skola vale, him in addition?

Raishen717 says... #17
@kevin916 Yep! So you could put twice as many counters on the scourge. Just be careful relying heavily on the scourge. I don't know what you normally play against, but he suffers from being slow and not having any evasion. I would consider some Golgari Charm
's so that you could regenerate him if an opponent tries to kill him. Otherwise you would have simply lost two creatures, and field advantage.
March 24, 2014 2:13 a.m.
Think you have room somewhere for Primeval Bounty ? You'll need even bigger dice :D !
March 24, 2014 6:49 p.m.
@bob111634 What would you suggest I replace for exava? @ Raishen717 Great idea, i am just stuck on what to swap for it, right now i am thinking of taking out flesh/blood , and swapping out 2 putrefy's for 2 hero's downfall. @Plaguejaw This is perfect, i was looking for something to give me additional counters and creatures. this will be amazing.
So far i need to fix my mana base, I feel as if the guildgates should be replaced with basic lands, because when i playtest this i get all scrylands and gates, which i have to wait a turn to use since it comes in tapped.
another thing is i am thinking of replacing trestle troll with deadly recluse, and swap out the guildmage for probably exava.
Maybe replace 4 flesh/blood with a couple golgari charms and then I'll need to replace something for Primeval Bounty. that is too good of a card to not include it in this deck. :)

Me and a few of my friend were playing around with this for the past couple days and this is what we came to:4 Elvish Mystic4 Sylvan Caryatid4 Scourge of Skola Vale4 Courser of Kruphix1 Nylea, God of the Hunt2 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch3 Corpsejack Menace2 Xenagos, God of Revels1 Kalonian Hydra3 Thoughtseize1 Devour Flesh2 Dreadbore2 Golgari Charm1 Putrefy3 Hero's Downfall3 Blood Crypt4 Overgrown Tomb 4 Stomping Ground4 Temple of Malice4 Temple of Abandon2 Forest2 SwampElvish Mystic doesn't need any explaining, as it is just a reprint of one of the best one drops ever. Sylvan Caryatid fixes our colours which is important especially considering that we don't have a B/G scry land, the two colours the deck is most focused on. Courser of Kruphix is good against everything. Against aggro it provides a high toughness for a low cost and gains a little life. Against mid-range and control it smooths out our draws by getting land off the top of our deck. This allows us to draw useful cards more consistently. Scourge of Skola Vale is our cheapest way to abuse all the counter synergy in the deck, and can grow off of a caryatid on turn 4 very nicely. My friends and I liked your one of Nylea, God of the Hunt and left it because it isn't a consistent creature, and it's legendary. But the benefits of giving her team mates trample is worth a slot in a deck like this that has some scary monsters. Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch is amazing and if she weren't legendary I would probably assign her 3 or 4 slots. Haste to all of your best creatures is pretty awesome on a creature that is already pretty good for the cost. I argued for a third copy but one of my friends pointed out the she doesn't die to Ultimate Price or Doom Blade , and if you unleash her, she also resists Lightning Strike and Bile Blight . This means that you could often have one in play that your opponent can't kill and be stuck with another in hand, so we stayed with 2 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch . Now Corpsejack Menace is kind of the centerpiece of the deck. He and Exava will allow for your most fun and explosive victories, but his ability stacks and he is not legendary, so I like running 3. If you really feel that you want 4 you could, but if you can't get counters to go with him, a 4/4 for 2GB isn't amazing nowadays. Xenagos, God of Revels is my favourite god. He is strong, and some of your creatures can get extra benefit from him,(Scourge can accumulate extra counters by saccing the creature you pump with Xenagos to make the boost more permanent). Unfortunately Xenagos is legendary so 2 is all I want to put in. I fought tooth and nail (haha Tooth and Nail ) to keep Kalonian Hydra in the deck. I like the card a lot, and despite my friends having pointed out,"It dies to every removal spell," I think it is ridiculous in this deck and with the potential for haste it gets even better. Now I can get to the spells in the deck. Thoughtseize is great against most decks, with the exception of burn and really aggressive builds. The Devour Flesh is to keep any Blood Baron of Vizkopa s out of the way, and any aura decks. Dreadbore is one of the best removal spells in the format and deserves a place if you are playing red and black. Golgari Charm is our way to get around Supreme Verdict . Charm may also be useful against weenie decks, and it destroys Detention Sphere and Underworld Connections . Hero's Downfall has proved to be amazing as it sees more and more play in standard, mainly in the black devotion but also more recently in jund monsters. Putrefy may seem like an odd choice considering that Downfall is in the format. The reason for this is two-fold. Firstly, 1GB is actually easier to hit than 1BB with all our dual lands, The second reason is the no regeneration clause. I have recently noticed a GB dredge deck that utilizes Lotleth Troll as a major threat. This deck can be found amongst the standard articles at tcgplayer.com. The land I have increased to accommodate some our higher cost spells like Xenagos and Kalonian Hydra. I also put in more dual lands to make our draws smoother. And in the sideboard:4 Mistcutter Hydra1 Thoughtseize2 Golgari Charm1 Garruk, Caller of Beasts3 Nylea's Disciple2 Pithing Needle2 Devour FleshI'm not going to talk about the sideboard because this comment is ridiculously long, but if you have any questions post them in the comments below and I will do my best to continue helping with the deck. Thanks for the awesome deck idea and I hope this all helps. Sorry for the extensive comment.
