Introduction
For those of you who have never seen
Biovisionary
before, it's a deck based around obtaining 4 copies of the namesake card. Pretty simple, right?

Overview
Deck colors
Deck colors
I originally ran this deck as Bant, since it had access to removal such as Path to Exile, Leyline of Sanctity, and Silence. Over time, the Simic version has worked better, having a more streamlined win condition.
Deck strengths
Deck strengths
I Plan to update this in the future, once it's been tested against many Modern archetypes. For now, the access to an arsenal of
Clone
s allows a unique combo/midrange feel, and alternate strategies can be run dependent on what the opponent plays.
"Oh, you have a Primeval Titan out? I'll take 3"
Deck weaknesses
Deck weaknesses
This will also be updated as time/playtesting goes on. For now, I'd say the largest weakness that I'm Seeing Quadruple! *PRIMER* has is that there is little/no removal, nor counterspells. As a
Johnny, Combo Player
at heart, the game becomes more exciting without removal (plus it allows more targets for Collected Company).
The Strategy
General strategy
General strategy
In general, the idea is to have 4 copies of
Biovisionary
at the end step, such that you win the game with its triggered ability. The best strategy I've used is to go for the
Renegade Doppelganger
plan, where one plays 3
Renegade Doppelganger
s (or clones of them), and plays a
Biovisionary
, winning at the end step.
Early game
Early game
Turn 1 should almost always be (if the hand's right) a Birds of Paradise or Noble Hierarch. This acceleration allows the board to be filled quickly with creatures, such that you have the board set up for the
Biovisionary
s.
Mid game
Mid game
The goal of the mid game (before turn 5, usually) is to obtain your
Biovisionary
s, or Collected Company into enough creatures such that you can easily play a
Biovisionary
and win. Other than that, it's really fun to trick your opponent into thinking you have a counterspell, and then 'Company-ing at their end step.
Late game
Late game
You're screwed.
Just kidding! Though a lot of this deck depends on winning quickly, the ability to
Clone
an opponents creature is viable (Usually done with a late-game topdeck of Phantasmal Image). Though there aren't many options, sometimes playing multiple spells a turn can get around some control strategies, and still pull off the win.

Card Choices Explained
Lands
Creatures
Creatures
Given the fact that there are 29 Creatures, you're likely to have 3 in your opening hand, and hit 2 with
Collective Company
. Hopefully those 5 add up to a dork and the
Biovisionary
Combo!
4x
Biovisionary
- I'm not going to explain this.
4x Birds of Paradise - Good turn 1 play. Having a mana dork (or a blocker) turn 1 is crutial to being able to pull off the combo before your opponent wins.
4x Noble Hierarch - Same reasoning as Birds of Paradise, however I'm a fan of the Hierarch more. The Exalted allows for an alternate win to occur (including copying Noble Hierarch, and swinging in with a 4/5 Birds of Paradise!).
4x
Cryptoplasm
- Probably the weakest of the clone effects in this deck, I'm not quite sure why I still use it. Getting one of these with Collected Company is pretty great, though! However, if any new clone effects are released (or a great suggestion is made) this is probably the first out.
2x Eternal Witness - An excellent card in general. Can be used to get a Collected Company late game, or return your only
Biovisionary
after its been murdered by your opponents. Either way, It's quite helpful.
4x Phantasmal Image - One of the strongest clone effects, I've found. The only time I can see an opponent targeting it is when they are trying to remove it (or in an unfortunate game against infect, where they Mutagenic Growth your Phantasmal Image so they can swing for lethal). Anyways, I enjoy it.
4x
Renegade Doppelganger
- The all-star of clones, at least in this build. Usually it will stick around, with your opponents thinking "It's just a 0/1, why should I waste my (insert your favorite removal spell here) on this thing?". Then, you watch their face as they realize they just lost because, instead, they removed your Noble Hierarch. RIP.
3x Spellskite - This may seem a little sketchy. "Why would anyone run 3 Spellskites mainboard?" some might be asking. I've found it's a reliable threat, which is under 3 mana and also a creature (CoCo). It hits Twin, any pump spells from infect, opponents removal, and (my personal favorite), the would-be game-winning Lightning Bolt from Burn.
In general, the creatures are meant to work with Collected Company as well as possible, and the sheer number is meant to ensure you are hitting both creatures with it's ability.
Other cards
Other cards
4x Collected Company - A staple card for this deck. Originally, I used a Gifts Ungiven package with this deck, but as soon as Company started getting big (replacing Birthing Pod in the modern metagame), the deck changed a tad. Anyways, the instant speed is a huge gain, and you want to be casting one of these turns 3/4/5/6/...
3x Summoner's Pact - I'm not completely sold on this. It's great, if you need the
Biovisionary
such that you can win that turn, but other than that Pact of Negation seems to be a better card. The cost can be paid, but usually isn't (given the fact this deck can win the same turn this is cast). Anyhow, I've gone games where this hasn't been cast, due to the fact I was afraid I couldn't pay the cost.
DON'T BE AFRAID!!!
3x Gitaxian Probe - Not the best cantrip, I'll admit. Gitaxian Probe was chosen, specifically over Peek, Serum Visions, and Sleight of Hand due to the mana cost. I've used it many times as a cantrip turn 1, and also played a mana dork, and I stand by it (even if it is only sorcery speed). Plus, seeing what you're playing against (especially turn 1) can help change your strategy accordingly.
