This looks surprisingly competitive. Will be better once the scryland for these colors comes out.

I saw a deck like this a while ago and built it for fun and it is awesome. I tried Spellheart Chimera and did not like it personally but my build is a little more creature based. I would suggest Aqueous Form

never mind did not see the Aqueous Form lol

I get what you are saying MADBrosllc if I did turn this more creature heavy Spellheart Chimera would probably one of the first ones to go

but that flying and trample combo is just to good to give up

and usually every turn I attack or such he just keeps getting stronger with all the cheap instants

thanks for the feedback though

I've been wanting to make an Izzet standard deck. Here I was just thinking about adding a bunch of burns, draws, and Ral Zarek but I may have been overthinking it. This is an awesome deck for the price.

haha thanks Anuve

this deck is fun as heck to play and I have won with not getting much mana but this deck is far from elite. If you cant get a Flamespeaker Adept or Spellheart chimera on the field you are basically buying time until you do because that is my only win cons.A late Spellheart Chimera can turn the tables though. Once the new U/R lands and maybe a new planeswalker come out they might go in here and make it a little better. If you want a fun deck that can compete at times (more of a side deck) this is for you but if you want to make a competitive deck that doesnt falter I would suggest something different

and most of my decks are low budget, I can afford to throw a bunch of money into them to pump them up

I think that you should run another Thassa, God of the Sea just for fun...

Prognostic Sphinx would be good here put in 2 and take out 2 Spellheart Chimera

March 22, 2014 6:53 p.m.

I thought about that Archonbob but Prognostic Sphinx 's mana cost is a bit too high (its nice to have avaiable mana during opponents turns) and a late game Spellheart Chimera is way better usually than the sphinx

Yeah, I tried Prognostic Sphinx in my version as well, and it didn't work very well at all. You should update this when you find out if Omenspeaker or Stormcaller of Keranos worked out better. I also have a lot of things I'm considering. This looks pretty good though! I think that the Portent of Betrayal might be a little slow for the deck, but that's just me.

It's always cool to see another version of similar deck. Here's mine if you want to check it out: Scry For the Win. :)

March 26, 2014 6:42 p.m.

A_Magikarp yea it kinda depends with the situation, if it is a fast deck I think Omenspeaker is better because i dont feel bad about blocking with it and once it is out that is all I use it for (also the higher toughness). While Stormcaller of Keranos might be a bit better for slower decks so I can build up a big attack (because I can stack on Flamespeaker Adept ) later on in the game for the win. Portent of Betrayal is only there incase they get a big guy I cant handle early with my monsters, it has helped out in a few games

A_Magikarp says... #13

I tried Witches' Eye to make Omenspeaker useful even when on the field, but I feel Oracle's Insight would be better. I haven't gotten to try it though.

I'm sure we'll see lots of Izzet decks once the new set comes out; just waiting for the scry land and the Izzet God.

March 26, 2014 7:06 p.m.

A_Magikarp the only reason Witches' Eye and Oracle's Insight are not in this deck is because you have to tap the monster (which leaves me vulnerable after I attack), so thats why I went with more instant instead

I'm wondering if Spark Jolt and Dissolve are doing too much for you, at least in the main board. The former is only one damage to something to can ignore using Aqueous Form while the latter is usually played on your opponent's turn. You may just want straight up Divination or to refill your hand and Guttersnipe to get extra value from the cheap spells. But then it starts to look like Nivix Cyclops fits and we've all seen that combo...

March 27, 2014 11 p.m.

Irishduce2 I have Dissolve in there so I can have a little control and Spark Jolt is a cheap and easy way to buff up Flamespeaker Adept when needed another +2/0

try adding Nivix Cyclops because with all the instants and sorceries you can really ramp him up with the Aqueous Form and hit for more than likely leathal. With that you should be able to turn four win with the with 2 titans strength another 1 drop spell and Aqueous Form

April 4, 2014 12:19 p.m.

Im trying to stay away from the creatures with stats depending with instants and soceries because once I add one ill want to keep adding more, the only reason Spellheart Chimera is in here is because of flying

Check out Burning Prophecy for a similar thematic design to yours. Nivix Cyclops is a huge help. Sturdy blocker, and you want to be casting a spell every turn to facilitate Flamespeaker Adept anyway.

it doesn't scry, but Mizzium Skin can protect your people from removal, which is always important.

Interesting take. I have to say that Oracle's Insight is just too costly and makes any creature an instant lightning rod. i would suggest looking at Nivmagus Elemental Blistercoil Weird and Nivix Cyclops as suggested above becuase they can all benifit from all the instants and sorceries you are playing, and 2 of those will give you T1 creatures to put on the board.
