Shatterstorm and Shattering Spree is your best bets. But running a Kolaghan's Command or two isn't a bad idea. It does do a lot.

27 to 32 in like three hours. I'm impressed. Why do you play 3 ScOoze/2 Finks instead of the other way around?
April 8, 2015 6:46 p.m.
Started on 24 today as well.
My early game isn't that strong and decks like affinity can be tough sometimes. Scooze coming down a turn earlier can be extremely useful. Scooze can also gain a higher toughness which is nice. Scooze also provides as much lifegain as I need. Scooze is also a win condition whereas finks isnt. The reason I run finks are just for 3 automatic power and 2 lifegain, which is fairly impressive.
I really like long game attrition and scooze gives me this. Finks do to same extent but less so. I wouldn't play 4 scooze though because they can be mana intensive and they're not a fantastic draw late game (not an awful top deck though)

It takes a few days to refresh because it's counted over a set period of time.

ChiefBell im curious why you choose Damnation over Wrath of God when they are the one and the same. I understand wrath is white but I feel you have enough mana fixing to aquire 2 white by turn 4 with out much problem. If it's due to mana base i understand just curious on the reasoning behind it. (I like to use cheaper versions of card especially if it does the exact same thing lol)

Slightly more emphasis on black than on white in this deck. As Alex said.

Does anyone want to discuss merits or drawbacks of Vault of the Archangel compared to Gavony Township? Death touch / lifelink versus +1/+1 counters?
The reason that I chose Vault over Township is because:
If I'm behind in the game death touch and lifelink is going to help me stabilise against a variety of different decks. It'll enable me to combat both creature aggro and burn effectively.
+1/+1 counters may enable me to trade or block creatures successfully that I might otherwise be unable to, but then again, deathtouch is going to be more successful at allowing me to block and at least trade when I'm really desperate. You run the chance of not being able to buff enough with +1/+1 counters to make a difference, but this isn't true with death touch. Vault means that lingering souls kills Tarmogoyf etc. This isn't true with township.
When I'm ahead I won't really need either so I don't see that situation as deciding which is included.

Have you considered Sorin, Solemn Visitor and Batterskull? They fit nicely into a long game attrition plan, while also being able to win themselves.
April 12, 2015 9:52 a.m.
So I had Batterskull in the sideboard but I replaced it with Sigarda, Host of Herons. Being a 4/4 with no hexproof can make batterskull not great in certain matchups. I did use him and like him for a long time though.
Sorin is an interesting choice and I think I will consider him. What I don't like about him is his mana cost and the fact that he's very dependent on how many creatures I have down. What I do like about him is that he lets me beat Abzan in the mirror and grind out games for ages. I'll test.

Would anyone be interested in a video deck tech about this deck?

Nah man. You just need to sideboard right.
Also, not all cool ideas are insane combo decks that die to one discard or counterspell. You can have good ideas that aren't generally weak to BG decks.
April 12, 2015 5:43 p.m.
Well. Just be glad pod isn't around. There was even less variety then.
April 12, 2015 5:44 p.m.
Deathmark, Sword of Light and Shadow, Blood Moon, wrath effects and other multi-for-1 kill or discard cards are all good.
April 12, 2015 6:03 p.m.
Well.... it does die to like, everything. But sure, it's not bad.
If I can get this deck to be in the top 3 most highly rated then I'll be so, so happy.
April 12, 2015 6:14 p.m.
I've had two at number one but I've since deleted those decks (my old BG one and my old Abzan EDH). Oh 3 actually - my 8rack deck too.
It's a very nice thing to have but it doesn't make the world go round.

You said earlier that you don't do fantastic against Affinity - how about Creeping Corrosion? And I know that Grafdigger's Cage costs less than Rest in Peace, but R.I.P. is almost strictly better. It stops Goyf, Souls, Taz, Sc'ooze, and so on. Finally, why the actual hell do you have a dedicated lifegain card in here? You don't need it. I'd suggest running Deathmark or Autumn's Veil in its place. Junk is a thing, and Control/Faeries seems like it might be a problem with this deck. Other than that, mainboard looks solid. +1!

6tennis I'd assume it's because burn is more common, and a worse matchup than any of those other things.
April 12, 2015 8:21 p.m.
Mmm. Yes, burn is definitely a problem. But then, why not an extra Leyline of Sanctity? It's much better against burn. Though, Fish on a Stick can gain you 10 as early as T3 with Tarmogoyf. But then, you can go T0 with the Leylines. It's your call.
April 12, 2015 9:55 p.m.
Burn decks usually side in Destructive Revelry against white decks due to Leyline of Sanctity most definitely being in the side, but Atarka's Command and Skullcrack are just as common to bring in to counter lifegain. Having both forces both answers, and that's not guaranteed.
April 12, 2015 10:02 p.m.
6tennis - Hi! No, I don't do fantastically but Damnation is enough to even up the matchup. Stony Silence is also really, really good. Essentially the problem is Damnation and Creeping Corrosion cost 4 mana which means that a very skilled affinity player can have you dead before you manage to cast them, or at least on so little life that you'll die from a Galvanic Blast.
Grafdigger's Cage beats Rest in Peace for me because reanimator decks with Goryo's Vengeance combo off on T2. Therefore if I play second and rely on Rest in Peace I can have lost the game before I even get to cast it.
Regarding Feed the Clan. It's super, super important. Against a variety of aggro decks gaining 10 life is just an autowin because they run out of resources such as Lightning Bolt. I'd even occasionally bring it in against affinity or zoo. Sometimes an aggro deck can still win with topdecks if you're on 5 life or something and they manage to get a bolt in then a hasty Goblin Guide or something like that. Gaining life just takes you out of reach, which is important.
I've had this discussion before and decided that I'd diversify my sideboard instead of going all-in on Leyline. I don't want to rely on a card that comes down T0 or T4 (so it is sometimes far too slow), and can be destroyed by Destructive Revelry. Therefore I diversify by running a 2 mana instant (Feed the Clan) that just bolsters my life a bit, and a 3 mana sorcery that not only bolsters my life but also gives me chump blockers. I feel that it's important to have options at all places on the curve (T2, T3, T4) and it's important to have multiple permanent and types in case of destruction effects or different counterspells.
Junk is beaten by Sigarda, Host of Herons, Damnation, Fulminator Mage, and Zealous Persecution. It's an ok matchup.
Control / Faeries is beaten by Thrun, the Last Troll, Sigarda, Host of Herons and sideboarding out almost all my removal for creatures. They can rarely counter everything. I have no problems with control at all.
April 13, 2015 7:42 a.m.
All good points, except how often do T2 reanimators actually combo off on T2? Not much. More often, you'll fight a T2 Tarmy without haste, so you can do something about it on T2. A lot of cards that see a lot of play rely on the graveyard, and R.I.P destroys them. However, I see your point, and reanimator decks do sometimes combo off. Still, all I'm saying is that a ton of cards rely on things being in the yard, rather than coming out of it.
