Oh okay. I'll make some for you. I'll start with creatures and instants. Does the art matter? Like could I put in Tarmogoyf over Tarmogoyf?
May 1, 2015 4:34 p.m.
I prefer the latter but I would not mind if you used the former.

Well I have already finished with both. I am posting in 1 minute, just putting the finishing touches. It looks great, I have the Dismember FNM Promo art (it looks really cool), a diffent Scooze art that fit the frame better, and the Future Sight Goyf, because it wen t well with the other pictures.

ChiefBell, How much of the modern meta would you say Abzan is? I test against this list fairly frequently and I wanted to know what I'm really up against

This version - 5%. The aggro version with Voice of Resurgence - another 5%.
Somewhere around 10% total.

Hey ChiefBell just curious why you decided on Kitchen Finks over Courser of Kruphix when courser has a few benefits for your deck. Courser counts towards enchantment as well as creature helping your GOYF out tremendously when it comes to power. Courser also cycles through your topdeck when it's a land to help keep your deck moving along as well and it gains life when they enter. And last but not least it's 2/4 body prevents a lot of aggressive decks from being able to attack into you. So was just curious why finks over courser.
Also i constructed my own abzan deck but I still have my jund deck at the ready for reassembly If it doesn't work out but I was curious if you could take a look at it because imnot sure on a few things with it. It's called Ain't quite abzan with out junk

I may switch to courser. I initially favoured finks due to the immediate lifegain and the higher power (which is relevant a fair amount of the time).
However, I am doing very well versus burn so courser may well be the way to go.

Femme_Fatale - You have playtested this deck a lot. What do you think of the finks for courser switch?

I was just playtesting it, and all of the sudden I draw a courser. My first reaction is: WTF? I never got your message since it got shot out of my notifications, but the first thing I did was head to your deck to make sure I'm not hallucinating or anything.
I don't like it. Finks is a VERY good card against RDW. I prefer a 3/2 finks/ooze.

Not too mention it is double green, making it a dead card should they Blood Moon you since your basics consist of 2 swamps, a forest and a plains.

Oh, and the revealing the top card of your library means that your opponent ALWAYS knows what you are going to draw.

Allow me to chime in and be with Femme here. Forgetting the cost and all, the extra power boost is actually nice because it increases the chance of killing whatever it's blocking. And then it comes back, so you basically destroyed a creature and gained some life for nothing. Also, letting your opponent know what's in your hand is not good in the slightest.

Performance against RDW didn't drive this decision. This deck, with or without finks, beats RDW with some ease. So that can be disregarded.
However what I had in mind was the plethora of 2/2 creatures in the format. Against goblin guides or voice of resurgence etc finks is useful twice then dies. For the same mana courser is useful infinite times. Against 3/3s (caused by noble hierarch's exalted usually), finks is useful one time. Courser is useful infinite times. I would rather have a brick wall that draws me cards occasionally than a single use or two-use card. When attrition is the name of the game I would prioritise long game stalls over short.
The next consideration was the filtering ability. Recently various junk decks, and jund too, have been running dark confidant. Card advantage is vitally important and not top decking land is part of that process. Obviously DC is a lot better but he also carries large risk in the life loss. Courser on the other hand carries the small risk of revealing the top card. Worth remembering: DC also forces you to reveal 50% of the cards you draw. However there are no cards I'm going to draw that are secret tech, that trick the opponent, that require particularly careful planning. If I draw a goyf; I play a goyf. My point is two-fold: 1) my hand is played out immediately in the late game and 2) just because they know I have a goyf in hand doesn't necessarily make their job easier. I would consider revealing cards disastrous if I was playing a combo or if I revealed my one Zealous Persecution. However if it's just a siege rhino then meh. What are they going to do? They either have removal or they don't. Knowing it's coming won't change that. Even if they see thay my next card is another one it's not as if they can ignore it and choose to not answer it. The idea is that this deck stretches resources with a 'dammed if you do, damned if you don't' philosophy. Sometimes I feel like I could play open handed a lot of the time.
I'm going to keep testing but the metagame is encouraging longer games at the moment and coursers ability to stop you top decking lands in the late game is really important. In fact he drove me to a recent 2-0 win over a very, very good Jund deck.

At the very least, I suggest putting in another basic forest. Treetop Village or a fetch are my considerations.
