Introduction

This is probably one of the commander decks that was the most fun to brew. I've wanted to put together an interesting soldier tribal deck since I started playing Magic three some odd years ago, and after a burst of inspiration, I decided on Oloro.

I think what especially resonates with me about this deck is that, unlike a lot of the commander decks I put together, this one feels very unfinished, and I know I'll enjoy slowly tuning it over the coming years as new sets and cards get released and I discover old gems I didn't know about. On top of that, I get to to take a well known commander out of his usual shell and go in a completely different direction.

As far as strategies go, it's pretty simple (the deck is practically monowhite after all). Bond together the tribal strength of white soldiers and Oloro's lifegain tech with cards like Cradle of Vitality, add in some powerful draw tech courtesy of blue and Oloro's triggered ability to keep the hand full of cards, and then go nuts.

I'm debating about giving the lifegain aspect of the deck a little more presence with wincons like Felidar Sovereign. Also debating working flash cards into the deck like Leyline of Anticipation and Vedalken Orrery so I can use the creature lord effects as combat tricks, which just feels like fun.

Suggestions wise, I'm looking for cards I might have missed, or anything that's strictly better then anything else I might already have. I appreciate any comments, criticisms, or suggestions, with the following addendums:

• No suggestions for tutors please. I know the deck has a low tutor count, and it's purposeful. My meta kind of frowns on tutors (one of those Spirit of EDH deals) so we try to limit it to one or two a deck.
• No infinite combos. The deck is designed to be lower on the power scale, so I'd like to keep i that way.
• If you're going to suggest that I take out something, please suggest what you would put in it's place (and vice-versa).
