Played at a local casual tournament tonight. Only took 3rd place, but that was because I made two STUPID mistakes which cost me the second match. I would have had 2nd place at least.

Match One: IMN Control vs. Wolf Run G/R.-Went 2-0. Easily countered/removed all creatures until I was ready to play Grave Titan for the win.

Match Two: IMN Control vs. card:Norn's Annex.-Went 1-2. Tough match-up suprisingly. NA made me attack with my creatures and I had to pay Phyrexian mana each time I did. I died with my opponent at 0 life, but damage was dealt to me first before the combat damage was assigned. In game two, I side-boarded in Surgical Extraction and destroyed. Game three, I made two rookie terribly stupid mistakes (Black Sun Zenithed for 1 less than I needed to to kill all of his creatures. Wtf?)

Match Three: IMN Control vs. Mono-Blue Metalcraft.-Went 2-1. First game easily used counter magic and card advantage to secure win with Sorin Markov followed by Grave Titan . Game two I drew no draw cards, no Forbidden Alchemy and 6 lands in a row. I lost. Game three I swept the board and pulled out two Grave Titan for an easy win.

Suggestions??

I'd say take out two of your Cancel s for two more Psychic Barrier s. Since you really want to control the creature flow and you're already going to pay two blue mana, might as well, I think. I'd also take out one Think Twice for another Phantasmal Image .

Good call on thatPhantasmal Image . I'm hoping to get another on in there soon esp. to help kill other legends people throw out there. Do you think Psychic Barrier s are necessary even with 2x card:Black Sun's Zenith and 4x Dismember + Doom Blade ?

Added 1 Psychic Barrier . Good call on that. I found that replacing even 1 Cancel with Psychic Barrier made a huge difference in my ability to counter an early creature.

Blinkmoth Nexus is not legal in standard. It's a card in your maybeboard.

I definitely meant Inkmoth Nexus . Thank you for the correction!

Do you think it has a place in the deck? I worry that it will ruin the mana curve, although many people swear it is necessary.

I think that having 2x Glacial Fortress to splash for a flachbacked Unburial Rites seems silly to me. You could take out those for 2x Inkmoth Nexus .

I like Inkmoth Nexus because it gives an alternative win-con and can act as a chump blocker.

Well I'm always interested in another win-con lol. What if I -1 Glacial Fortress and a swamp and +2 Inkmoth Nexus ?

Unburial rights has helped a lot since I only have three Grave Titans which can get countered/removed and also if Unburial Rites get but into graveyard via Forbidden Alchemy it is not totally lost. But maybe its not necessary.

Thanks again for the input!

im gonna go ahead and say add Mimic Vat if you bring out Grave Titan and let him die, just mimic vat it and start churning out 4 token's every turn. I sort of feel like 26 lands is a bit much. So take out 2 lands and put two mimic vats.

I like the Mimic Vat idea except that I only run 4 creatures and one of them has to die. Phantasmal Image would be perfect for this combo though!

And I might trim deck down to 25 lands. Good call on that.

Would like to add 1 Wurmcoil Engine, but unsure of what to take out.

Last night play tested deck, Grave Titan got gutted with Surgical Extraction but was still able to win with next turn Sorin Markov .

Considering taking out a counter? Maybe a Doom Blade ? But I <3 creature removal in 1 deck with 4-5 creatures.

Hmmm. Suggestions?

I'd take out Cancel in favor of the strictly-better fourth Dissipate .

To add consistency, perhaps drop Unburial Rites and Glacial Fortress in favor of Sheoldred, Whispering One and 2x Darkslick Shores

Anyways, +1

I should try making a good deck sometime? Ha.

Again, I'd remove the Cancel and add a Dissipate ?

Why? Because Cancel flat out sucks.

Even Stoic Rebuttal is a strictly-better card.

Except for I want to Surgical Extraction what I Cancel or Despise .

Good try though. Keep at it.

@ jfriday09, you win sir.

But on topic, it seems like it would need some removal, but it has enough "no" to make up for it. I really like how it runs. All i can say is i would spread out with different beatsticks, i like to have several in instant-heavy decks so they can't just Nevermore or Memoricide and you're screwed. i use Consecrated Sphinx for the legit draw.

Steimtime says... #24

Thanks!

Yes, Nevermore has been a problem which is why Disperse is in there (saved my ass more than once lol).

But I am definitely thinking about adding a Sphinx and, of course, the ever-present Wurmcoil Engine, as soon as I can get my hands on one or the other (or both).

The removal is where I am running into trouble at times, usually made up for by card:Black Sun's Zenith but I am working out the swap currently to add another.

Thanks!
