Yea I would say you need to splurge. Or if you can Like I did just trade for them. Snapcaster Mage saves my bacon a lot more than I would like to admit.

im a fan of Gitaxian Probe 6 out of 10 games i've played with my deck i've gotten it within the first or second hand. then you know what you can wait on to counter.

that seems to be a good tactic...i'd rather go with Despise though, just because it's proactive planeswalker killing. also, this deck kind of just says no to everything so it doesnt seem to need any Telepathy type things. everytime ive playtested it, it just prevents or removes everything.

@ Urbanraptor: I LOVE Gitaxian Probe! However, I'm not sure it has a place in this deck, at least not yet.
@ SplodyCopter: Thanks! I love old-school style permission decks. They still do fairly well in today's Standard format.
I use Despise just for that reason. Sideboard them in if they opponent is playing heavy planeswalkers.

Not a big fan of Lily unless I'm running a Solar Flare. But she is an amazing card.

This is the deck as I will play it at a tourny tommorrow night. Any last minute comments?
I completely took out Phantasmal Image because I often found myself holding him in my hand with no creature to copy (and using him to spot-remove legends almost never happened).
+1 Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon complements my Inkmoth Nexus ' well and is a game-ender.
7 kill spells (removal), 11 counters (permission), 5 draw-card (2x Think Twice , 3x Forbidden Alchemy , and 2 reusable board sweeps.
My sideboard is a bit diverse for my liking, but I only play with cards I actually own and I don't have time to run to the shop and pick up more Despise and Surgical Extraction .
Finally, in a permission deck, Sorin Markov has been single-handedly winning matches, so I think I'll keep him in for now.
Thanks for all the help!

Contemplating dropping 1 land for another Think Twice but very hesitant to do so. I need to get my land drops consistently to bring out Sorin Markov or Grave Titan , but sometimes (rarely I guess) find my self swamped with land.
Suggestions?

do you need the draw that bad? I don't know why people are hating on Ponder i like being able to see 3 ahead and pulling one if necessary.
or card:Tezzeret's Gambit proliferate your poison or counters on sorin and draw two cards?
November 3, 2011 2:29 p.m.
Hmmm. Didn't think about TG. That's a good call.
Lol people spread ponder-hate just because its a sorcery =P I think its still a good card, esp. in decks that need card queuing to get their combos right like pod decks.

also... Forbidden Alchemy ? what is the reasoning behind this? i mean you only have one other card with flashback. It seems like the 3 drop is a bit expensive and does more harm than good.
i think Ponder would be a good replacement for it or card:Tezzeret's Gambit
(sorry, should have mentioned that in the post above.)
Good luck friday! Make sure you update the stats on it, i wanna see how it does, ill do the same for BRUISING VICE GRIP (U/B CONTROL)
November 3, 2011 2:38 p.m.
Forbidden Alchemy lets me dig deep for the card I need (counter, kill, sweep, or creature) and bypasses the over-abundance of land that may be coming up. I like it! Plus the fact that its an instant means I can keep mana open for counters and if I don't have to counter anything, I cast FA at eot.
Works pretty well so far.
I will def update stats too. And I'll check yours too. Looks like your in good shape for Friday.

Swapped 2x Nihil Spellbomb s for my 2x Mental Misstep in my sideboard. Felt that a late game spellbomb was much more useful than a late game misstep, even against the appropriate decks.
And it gives card advantage.

Played at local tourny tonght (small turnout) and took 1st place! Thanks to everyone for all the help on the deck.
Game summaries above in deck description.
Let me know what you think or if you have any question!

I did not! But I have played several WRR on the Cockatrice program (check it out) and I've done just great!
How was your FNM?

EH, i went 2 and 3. I posted the results in the details of my deck. I would have won my first, but i made a pretty stupid mistake.
November 7, 2011 3:43 p.m.
I'm going to try running a Rune-Scarred Demon instead of Sheoldred, Whispering One this week. She seems to get bombed the turn after she comes out, which is fine, but I'd much rather be getting something out of it like the Demonic Tutor from RSD.
November 7, 2011 7:52 p.m.
Need to work out a more solid sideboard. DEFINITELY need to add 2x Ghost Quarters to take out Gavony Township decks and help with Kessig Wolf Runs.
Suggestions for cards that would help address my deck's weak points?
November 7, 2011 10:31 p.m.
Seeing if I should add 2x Phyrexian Crusader to compliment my Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon and 2x Inkmoth Nexus .
And considering POSSIBLY buying 2x Snapcaster Mage but not sure what to take out for them. Probably 2x removal?
Suggestions pl0x!

i might be crazy, but Inexorable Tide would be sorta awesome, do a couple inkmoth damage turn 2 and 3 then every spell proliferates your poison as well as when you have Sorin out, his loyalty counters increase too :)
November 8, 2011 11:48 a.m.
You are crazy! Lol no but that sounds like a sick idea. I should get my hands on a couple and test it out.

I do have the Drownyards, however I am trying not to splurge for the Snapcaster at this point in time since they are running for so much cash (and I play Standard only maybe once a month). Hopefully they will filter in soon and will make great additions to the deck.
Good call on that though.
