Imotekh the Stormlord

He should be called the combolord. His first ability is our built-in win con. We're going to utilize this ability mostly but there are other synergies and potential combo's that evolve as you play. His second ability is critical early game. Although it seems less impactful, it in fact is a tempo piece. You will be able to pipe a few early creatures through to your opponents and ideally draw some of their removal and other shenanigans to free up space for combo set-up. For this reason, I suggest, go for the player.

I designed this specific set-up to be around a POWER LEVEL: 6-7. Citing the lack of tutors and inclusion of less combo pieces and removal. But I am told, though, it is more an 8.

PRIMER IS ALMOST FINISHED. Just a few combos yet to add.

-you like assembling shifting combos.

-you like having an intimidating board presence.

-you love tokens and artifacts.

-you enjoy playing Black

-ALL HAIL THE CEMETARY

-you do not enjoy linear game play and seek a more dynamic deck experience.

-you do not enjoy being hated on by the table.

-you do not like mono-colored deck.

-you drink your beer with a straw.

The idea is similar to most of my combo decks. It's designed to be not cEDH but also has the potential to upgraded. I have found the most important approach to gameplay has been to slow burn, you do not want to put all your combo pieces out without having something to do with them. Which is why with an average CmC of around 3 (which is misleading because of mycosynth golem and metalwork collossus) it puts us on par to play at least something during the early game. Once sacrifice outlets and a return source (or graveyard manipulator) are established it's time to get Imotekh out and start making stuff happen. You can often find enough methods to return without actually going infinite to overrun the opposition.

Krark-Clan Ironworks Or Ashnod's Altar or Phyrexian Altar are the driving force. Imotekh the Stormlord first ability reads Phaeron — Whenever one or more artifact cards leave your graveyard, create two 2/2 black Necron Warrior artifact creature tokens.

The Retriever Loop

The Colossus Loop

  • One of the other combos built in and is typically my Entomb or Buried Alive target(s) are Metalwork Colossus and Skirge Familiar. Which will net infite with Imotekh in play. The way it works is, sacrifice two artifacts to return Colossus to hand, create 2 Necrons, then discard Colossus to Familiar to net one black mana, then repeat. This is not the overrun approach, and you need something to do with the mana. For that reason, I have thought about adding tendrils or torment but that would likely be in the upgrade cEDH version.

The "Shifting Combo's"

  • Is what happens when you assemble a convoluted combo through synergies. The next set of shenanigans includes our friend, Dross Scorpion which in conjunction with Clock of Omens means we can do things with Imotekh + Altar such as another enabler for the retriever loop or even turn tap creatures into combo pieces.

Illuminor Szeras will filter out black mana on retriever loops.

Steel Overseer will put infinite counters on our creatures.

Cryptek will create entire new loops with one retriever, or pretty much any creature.

Chronomancer will allow us to essentially draw out and infinite mana + library in hand = gg.

SUPPORT

for this section we will include cards that mill or put things in the graveyard since that is essentially an extension of our hand. Card manipulation is not the cheapest CMC-wise in this build, but it is efficient if used the right way.
