Honestly, I'd keep Jace at a playset. He's really, really good. If this were my deck, I'd probably remove a Liliana of the Veil . Half the time, she's just a Sorcery-speed Diabolic Edict .

I can't wait to see what dimir brings for this. So far im digging it dude! Keep up the good work. How do u play against other top decks??

The deck only loses to Zombies and Tokens. Any thoughts on how to manage that?

Rakdos Charm is nice for tokens. "What's that you have 12 zombies? Hope you don't mind if they line up and slap you in the face for 12!"

A good way to get ride of tokens is use card:Curse of Death's Hold. Also have you ever thought about using Slaughter Games ? it is pretty much the same as Sever the Bloodline but includes cards in the library still or graveyard to get rid of cards with flashback. It just doesn't have flashback like sever does

Watery Grave won't be standard until Gate Crash; it's the Dimir land. Also in Gate Crash will be Breeding Pool , Stomping Ground , Sacred Foundry , and Godless Shrine .

Of course it isn't. But it will be, guaranteed. Just pretend they're swamps for the time being :P
November 7, 2012 9:56 a.m.
Just out of curiosity, why do you have 4 Slaughter Games in the sideboard? What matchups do you see those coming in? I can see it vs aggro Zombies, naming Geralf's Messenger, but I can't see it coming in anytime else, so I don't think that warrants having 4 of them. That is, unless your meta is heavy on the Zombies.
November 7, 2012 5:17 p.m.
Just being likely to top deck one, naming "Thragtusk ," seems so damn viable. Maybe I can cut a couple for something else.
If it's all the same, I'd like to focus on the mainboard a little bit more :P

Well, for starters, Chromatic Lantern should be a 4-of. It's just... so... good. Also, if you're not having the space for them, you could use 2 of them over the keyrune, or 2 copies of Gilded Lotus .
November 7, 2012 5:28 p.m.
Both Chromatic Lantern and Gilded Lotus are excellent. But I don't see either going in, letalone in place of Rakdos Keyrune . I can run some tests, but at 25 lands, mana isn't something I'm too concerned with in control.

Here's a link to my most recent deck, for reference: deck:zandls-big-ass-wipes-top-4-fnm
Right before FNM, I was running Chromatic Lantern in place of the Azorius Keyrune s. Then it dawned at me that just by sacrificing one of the colors I would get out of it, I could have a creature that's immune to Pillar of Flame , Dreadbore , and any other Sorcery-speed removal.
November 7, 2012 5:43 p.m.
They're pretty god damn awesome. I'm not too concerned with mana fixing, with all this being said.
Anything else anyone can think of? We're trying to keep consistently placing at FNM and other opens, so anything that helps there really.

i've a different version of grixis check it out Grixis Gangster. Appreciate any helpful comments
November 10, 2012 6:28 a.m.
Nahh. If anything it will be sideboarded. Can't risk any useless cards in game one. Thanks though :)
November 10, 2012 9:29 a.m.
I would drop a Slaughter Games and a Duress from the sideboard for 2x Rakdos Charm .
It gets rid of your opponent's graveyard at Instant-speed, can destroy things like card:Runechanter's Pike, Witchbane Orb , any Keyrune, etc., and can turn your opponent's powerful board position into a your win condition.
In essence, it's really the perfect sideboard card for control.

I am actually building a Grixis deck using Olivia. I hadn't seen this yet. I might make some tweaks to my deck now.
I'll compare yours with mine soon and will give my 2 cents.
+1 until then.

It probably hurts you when i say this, but i think Bonfire of the Damned just isn't reliable enough in a control deck. I too use a Grixis deck and i found that i more than often hard-casted it. It hurt me when i came to the decision to take it out of my deck but in the long run the deck is much more reliable. I also highly recommend Desecration Demon . If they choose to keep him tapped, once you wipe the board, he's insane. Even if they don't choose to sac at all, he can steal a game being such a cheap 6/6.

Here's my deck if you wanna check it out Removal & Counter Control (Grixis)
November 15, 2012 7:44 p.m.
Well, with 30 rare and 13 mythic (and a lot of planeswalkers), that is exactly the kind of deck that gives me the more satisfaction when I manage to beat.
It looks cool though. I'll do some test with it, to try it and... to try to beat it. ; )
November 17, 2012 12:55 p.m.
This deck is pretty brutal. Most of my decks have a very hard time keeping up with it (though admittedly I play a lot of fragile combo decks that don't hold up to the removal and hate you're running).
Only possible suggestion would be -1x/-2x Mizzium Mortars , +1x/+2x Cyclonic Rift . It depends on what you want it for... are your opponents swarming you with tiny non-token creatures? Or do you want to destroy all their tokens and completely undermine their board position?
I could be wrong but I think you might have the priciest Standard deck on tappedout. :)

I'm not saying he should be your only win-condition, just that he is one. And I (of all people) know the difference between ramp and land-count. I piloted Wolf Run Green before Wolf Run Red won anything, and I've been making Top 4 with ramp decks almost every week since.
With 25 lands and the moderate amount of card-draw you have here, you'll likely never miss a land-drop to 8. And if you get to 8, Nicol Bolas is the most efficient and fastest way to shut an opponent out.
