I figured 1's all I need with 1 of each basic. I've been wrong before.

Pillar of Flame
, Zombie decks crush my grixis. I would have at least 4 total, can be sideboard.
I had to add Ultimate Price to deal with Thundermaw Hellkite
No Searing Spear ? deals with Thragtusk and most early game creatures.

I agree with you mrdans4s, but don't know how to go about changing the build as it is right now. Until Gatecrash, it seems pretty close to perfect.

For temporary fixing. Watery Grave will replace it and the 3 basics in February. It's not too bad dude. Especially without fetch lands and only dual lands in hand.

I run a deck similar to this, and a playset of Think Twice is really beneficial, especially with forbidden alchemy to put it into the graveyard. you can save up mana for any of your counters, and if they dont play anything, just draw.

I would suggest some Searing Spear s mainboard; instant speed removal is good. Adding the fourth Pillar in the side would also be good, because you want to see all four of them against Zombies and other match-ups. Have you considered Rewind ? It pretty much secures victory with Tamiyo's emblem out. I would also say the Vampire Nighthawk s in the sideboard in exchange for more removal(an extra Syncopate , extra Dreadbore and two Searing Spear s maybe?). Thye're good, but unless you're going against heavy aggro like RDW and need lifegain, hard removal might just be better. Plus, in a lot of match-ups they'll get burned quickly anyway. I would also fit in another Bolas; you'd never want to see him too much, but even if you have two in hand, the second is a reassurance that in case the first get answered, you can still win with him. He honestly makes an opponent scoop faster than them not having any lands(which he often causes with his ult).
+1 to the deck, I like it, especially the shenanigans I can see going on with Chandra, the Firebrand and her copying spells like card:Rakdos's Return and card:Devil's Play.

@FROZR2 You mentioned it on omegashift's deck, but this deck is similar minus the white wipes. Have you toyed around with black wipes? Mutilate might not work our with your ''swamp" count (5), but Killing Wave might have a nice home in your sideboard for aggro if not in your main board.
December 20, 2012 1:40 a.m.
Killing Wave is a bad board wipe for the same reason Vexing Devil and Desecration Demon are bad cards. They give your opponents the option to make a choice, and despite the possibility of both choices being beneficial to you, they will almost always choose what benefits you the least.
December 20, 2012 12:57 p.m.
@FROZR2 It may not suit your playstyle. Giving an opponent two bad choices wins games with classic black flavor. Players rarely accept the wipe completely and will bleed themselves down to keep precious creatures leaving them in range for Direct Damage victory.

all these cards work together really nicely but I don't see this deck being at its fullest, I like the idea of no basic lands but it seems a tad bit slow. I love how this whole deck just snowballs and the other player is rendered useless and nothing can be played to keep from there utter destruction.

Consider Rewind to play with Tamiyo's ult. Plus if you have 4 mana its free to play.

I'm not a fan of Rakdos Keyrune . I'd drop em for 1 more Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker and 1 more Liliana of the Veil .
Liliana is just too good not to run a 2 of, and Nicol Bolas wins games. I've seen this deck built, but not in the fashion you have.
Also, drop the 2 Evil Twin s for 2 Thundermaw Hellkite s as he wipes the sky for you to swing the win.
Great job! +1 from me!

This deck looks pretty solid. My Grixis Control is pretty similar. Check is out maybe. Have you ever played against a mirror match up? It's so annoying. Worst things ever. It turns into a complete stall war sometimes xD

How do you feel about Cyclonic Rift in place of Devastation Tide ? Also how does this deck do against aggro?
December 31, 2012 12:25 a.m.
I have taken both Cyclonic Rift and Devastation Tide out of both main and side board, simply due to the fact that I'm paying mana to give my opponent card advantage, and, in most cases, get another set of ETB triggers. They are good if you want to survive an extra turn but that's really it. They are both very bad cards.
The only viable board wipes are Terminus and Supreme Verdict , both of which are outside of my colors. I run 1 Blasphemous Act because it can act as a pseudo-Supreme Verdict in most cases.
The build does well against some aggro decks, and others not so much. Lingering Souls and Thragtusk give me trouble. Opposing walkers that generate tokens also give me trouble. Zombies gives me trouble. Everything else I can deal with relatively easily.

I'm really intrigued to know, what is your weakest matchup? What card or archetype gives you a bad time?
Overall really nice deck, +1 :)

I'm sorry, I didn't see your last comment for some obscure reasons...
But I don't understand, isn't Rakdos Keyrune good against thragtusk and Olivia Voldaren super good against Lingering Souls ?
Also, when Dimir comes out, Mutilate could become a viable board wipe over Blasphemous Act .
