This is one of two builds a friend and I put together for him to play casually and at fnm. So far he enjoys both decks, but this one has been my favorite and after a few changes I think it is awesome and different than what you see anywhere. The deck is a fun budget option and can do some explosive things by turn 4.
There are a few options on each turn to make the deck fairly consistent, but with one option being preferable.
Turn one Inventor's Goggles into turn two Cogworker's Puzzleknot/Servo Schematic is such a strong start for this deck, but you also have Ornithopter and Key to the City for consistency one turn 1-2. If you end up with turn 1 ornithopter, you can swing for five in the air on turn 3 with Tezzeret's Touch or have a big blocker that eats Heart of Kiran.With your other cards, you can play and auto-equip your two artificers on turn three to make a 5/6 hexproof Bastion Inventor or a 5/5 flyer in Wind-Kin Raiders! Turn four-repeat turn three because you have 12 of those cards+hold up one island for a one-mana Mana Leak in Metallic Rebuke, or devastate your opponent with your payoff Herald of Anguish! Use servos to chump, Battle at the Bridge to swing races and Murder/Grasp of Darkness to clear the board while you stomp face for way cheaper and way more fun than the played out G/B counters!
The sideboard is situational removal. Do you need a board sweeper, small creature removal, board wipe, unconditional removal, or Planeswalkers removal? And use Tezzeret the Schemer against control and any creatureless builds such as Dynavolt Tower decks.
tl;dr, we built a competitive(?) budget deck that is very fun and has explosive plays and tries not to live in magical Christmasland by having a consistent amount of cards that lead to those explosive plays.
