Dismember instead of Disfigure possibly.
Why run Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth? The most expensive card that needs at most 2 black. You have no creatures with swamp walk. Probably take theses out and put swamps in or if you want to thin your deck out put some sac lands in.

urborg is used as a mana fixer just in-case, but it really doesn't effect the curve that much also with funeral charm you can give something swamp walk. As for thoughtseize, I'm honestly just not a huge fan of it i don't run it in legacy Pox and maybe that is where I got my bias from

Dude, this deck is one of the coolest thi ngs i have ever seen. The transformaion on top of an already strong deck is simply beautiful. I love it. If it werent so expensive, id build it. No doubt.
Easy +1, this thing is beautiful. Post some results if you ever play it.

hark 8-Rack is traditionally a discard type control decks that uses 4x The Rack and 4x of "the new Rack" Shrieking Affliction hence the name 8-Rack.

hateindigital seems interesting may have to test it out.
Figag Thanks man, and i have played it before (just not in a sanctioned tournament... Yet), it is a blast to play just to see the look on the opponents face. I have played both Roc and a splintertwin with this and won 2-0 both times.
Also thanks for the comments guys.

Frog_Bomb It could fit into some 8-rack builds but for this i cant seem to find a place for it.
Thanks for your comment.

I, too, play an 8-Rack build and have had decent success with it in my local meta. This version is subceptible to creature-based decks due to your lack of removal, even with the Ensnaring Bridge. If you don't draw it, the only thing you really have protecting you is Disfigure, which is very limited in its removal. You need removal spells like Dismember, Victim of Night, Smother, Go for the Throat, and Doomblade.
As for your sideboard, unfortunately, mono-black infect is not very good-it is too honest and it makes your mana curve too high. Not enough people play 8-rack to make people heavily guard against it by putting discard hate in their sideboards. Also, you need graveyard-hate in your sideboard. Cards like Bojuka Bog and Tormod's Crypt are a big help.
Good luck!

@Adamantium13 I agree with you that Dismember is likely a better option than Disfigure. As for being susceptible to creature-based decks; I have been playing discard decks since I started playing the game and have learned some things over the years, the fact of the matter is that you will always be in danger to what they top deck, but my removing their early game threats from their hand hinders their early game. If they do my some chance get something out you will usually have something to deal with it i.e. Smallpox, Liliana of the Veil or your removal of choice. And yes I agree again the Mono-Black infect isn't the best or most curvy deck in the world but the point isn't for it to be perfect. the point is to mislead them and take advantage of their blunders. Finally with sideboard, there are 2 commonly ran sideboard cards that screw over discard Chalice of the Void and Leyline of Sanctity. The person you are playing will likely remove most creature control from their deck (because 8-rack runs almost no creatures) and will give an advantage to your infect creatures.
Thank you for your input. :)

I apologize. I completely forgot you ran Liliana. She makes a big difference.
I run a faster version of 8-rack with a very low mana curve. Usually, if I get an opening hand with 2 or 3 discard spells and at least 1 of the 8 racks, I have a pretty good game. It is a semi-budgetish deck.
Again, apologies for the oversight.
Good luck! May the draws ever be in your favor :)

Adamantium13 no apology necessary lol, and yes she is total control if you get her out early enough.
And i like your deck, budget is the best way to go, the only reason I run lilly is because i picked he up when she was MUCH cheaper.

Unfortunately, I was not around for the Innastrad block. I was going to pick her up when she was only $40, but when I was going to make my move a week later she went up to $100!
I am thinking about adding Waste Not as a 2-of in the sideboard. What do you think?
July 24, 2015 12:48 p.m.
Titilanious says... #17
@Adamantium13 Personally i think Waste not is fantastic, but in function it is less then amazing. i tried to use it in my legacy Pox deck when it first came out but it seemed that i just couldn't get much use out of it and it would be a dead draw later when they were controlled already.
But Modern is a whole different ball game. So i would say test it out, run it a few time and then make a judgment.

I've gotten some great results with Bitterblossom in my 8-rack list.

It's either a chump block generator until you can get your bridge lock in place, or it's an incremental stream of 1/1 flyers to close out games faster. +1 Lili after combat to get back under your bridge for your opponent's turn.
Cool idea for the transformation.

I've run 8-rack since I started magic, and I seem to be the only guy that hates smallpox.... hahaha. I use Liliana's Caress and Dark Deal instead for an unheard of quick win from an 8-rack deck. I like the infect idea though. I ussed to use a similar tactic but I switched mine into an infinite combo deck g2 with Bloodchief Ascension and Mindcrank since I knew they'd be removing the other enchantments and artifacts that they knew would hurt them... Buuuuttt your idea is wayyyy wayyyy better, due to a much larger change. +1 from me!

@DMPv01 I have played with the idea before, i like it, likly will revisit it again soon.
@ forforforest I love Liliana's Caress and it is a great card but i just couldnt seem to fit it into this. The problem with that card is if you arnt running red for Burning Inquiry you hit a wall when they have no cards in their hand.
Thanks for the comments.

This deck is so insanely cool. From one nasty, nasty deck to another nasty, nasty deck and they won't even anticipate it. This might even be one of my favorite decks ever. I'm definitely going to play it <3 <3

Awesome. I have had this going for a while now. Here is my sideboard:
2x Damnation
4x Phyrexian Crusader
4x Phyrexian Vatmother
3x Runechanter's Pike
2x Victim of Night
I run my 4 Inkmoth Nexus maindeck instead of Mutavault. Also 2 Dismember main. Sometimes I want to add a Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon, but I haven't yet. Since we are forgoing a traditional sideboard, I decided to maindeck 2 Ghost Quarters. Even with 6 non-swamps I'm only running 1 Urborg- although I don't run any Smallpox.
my list: 8Fect

Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is such a cool card, and i think it would be possible to maybe add him as a 1 or 2 of.
Also you are defiantly right to add some Ghost Quarter into the main, i will do so.
I really like Smallpox just because i play pox in legacy some people like it others cant see a use for it haha.

Great deck! As a fellow 8rack user, Chalice really slaughters our deck. I will definitely try this kind of deck transformation.
