What would you suggest instead? And I dont know if that's "more of a hatebears thing", the old naya zoo as opposed to the Abzan zoo we see now ran Loxodon Smiter. I'm just trying to build a budget version (meaning I'm not running goyfs)

Maybe some Figure of Destiny, Fleecemane Lion, or possibly Knight of the Reliquary.

I dont know, knight of the reliquary is good, but with Abzan being so good, Liliana is being played more which means more discard. Also can't be thoughtseized or inquisitioned away. It's also way too good against anything with counters... I like knight of the reliquary, I really do. But I have no utility lands to take advantage of and the deck is ideally too fast for her. In a mudrange build with say, Gavony Township, 100%. But I dont know... I'll try finding a place without droping loxodon smiter. Fleecemane Lion looks good, but his ability, along with that of figure of destiny is too slow for modern. I would however consider Warden of the First Tree if I wanted to try a more midrange approach with less creatures.

I can see the Loxodon Smiter, after all, I run mainboard Wilt-Leaf Liege in my Death and Taxes deck now, but I know that a lot of Zoo decklists do run Figure of Destiny in the 75.

You could also try Experiment One, Grim Lavamancer, Qasali Pridemage, or even Flinthoof Boar. I do agree with the Smiter, and you shouldn't take Knight if you take it.

Definitely add Burning-Tree Emissary, too. It is necessary in Zoo.

Also, for your tags, I wouldn't say midrange, because those are higher mana costs and more lands decks, this is an aggro deck.
March 16, 2015 8:04 p.m.
Okay, I have a couple problems with some of those cards. Qasali Pridemage first of all, I think is better in the more midrange builds with Siege Rhino (the Tribal Flames version). I want to be attacking with many creatures, so something with battlecry I think would be better suited here than exalted. As for Experiment One and Grim Lavamancer, they're great cards. On turn 1... Then they quickly loose value past turn 2 or sometimes 3. They're just not good enough as top decks to justify. Flinthoof Boar is nice, I definetely see his value as a top deck, but what about Boggart Ram-Gang instead? An extra mana to cast, but after you haste the boar it evens out. Plus wither is amazing. Burning-Tree Emissary... What would you drop?

Your deck is screwed to a Blood Moon or Path to Exile at least run 1 of each basic to fetch so that you can still cast your green or white sources. I agree with loxodon in the deck because he is able to pressure the board effectively. Id consider playing Naya Charm as a 2 of because being able to regain a creature or tapping out the opponents board is very nice and can easily let you get 7 damage in unblocked on turn 3
March 16, 2015 11:47 p.m.
You're right about the land thing :P added one of each basic. What would you change to add Burning-Tree Emissary and Naya Charm? Boggart Ram-Gang is also a consideration, but I dont think I'll run it.

Id drop a command and a Boros for 2 Naya Charm and for burning tree if you want those take out rampager cause emissary is more board state and that's more important than trample for an aggro deck. Yes it's nice to trample but also don't over extend
March 17, 2015 12:04 p.m.
You know, I've been thinking about naya charm... Both Boros Charm and Atarka's Command have different ways to squeeze in extra damage, which is the reason for suggesting the Naya Charm. The thing is, naya charms other abilities aren't particularly useful where as Boros charm can be used to full extent and atarka's command as well. I like naya charm, I just don't think it's as well suited for a deck with much fewer things that would actually be worth returning and recasting. Cause that makes my creatures incredibly mana inefficient. And 3 damage for 3 mana? That just isn't good at all... I think I'd rather not put in naya charm at all but instead drop 1 command, 1 charm and 2 rampager a for 4 burning trees. Your thoughts?

I'm Really interested in the off colour shocks your running. is it for cards like Sowing Salt?

That's my bad I didnt bring up the preview for that card and it's my fault. I thought juSt another burn spell but this makes perfect sense. Sorry for the waste of time xD.
As for suggestions. I loved Flinthoof boar when it was standard. Pretty solid creature and would probably work well in her as I see it in your maybe board. I personally would switch them out for the BTE. They are nice and can cast then self for free along with other spells I just prefer the beefy creature oppose to the spam itself creature. Decks looks solid. +1 for zoo's
March 18, 2015 11:21 p.m.
AsJamesfurrow it's for Tribal Flames sideboard. I'm just testing it out for longer grindy matchups where top decks really start to matter. Not sure if it's the best card though, I'm kinda playing around with ideas. If you have something else I'm mind for that kinda of situation, let me know! Thinking of Thrun, the Last Troll :)
As for Flinthoof Boar, maybe I'm missing something, but he seems underwhelming... I've found (in my little experience with the deck) that the most important thing is getting a relevant board state as fast as possible, which BTE does amazingly. if I wanted something slightly beefier I'd like something closer to Tarmogoyf. The issue is that I actually intend on building this, so scooze is the next best thing. I dont know, I'm no zoo expert, you tell me. Do you think flinthoof board fits better into the aggro zoo deck as opposed to a midrange zoo? Which do you find better for this archetype, quality or quantity? I dont know, I love the deck and an have a lot of fun with it, but I'm by no means an expert with it.

I haven't really played much modern Zoo. I played Zoo variants when it both the Boar and BTE were in standard and they worked well together. But since there I'd better choices in modern it's hard to choose between the both. You could test if you'd like. Like I said if I were to pilot this deck is so the boar as it could be 3/3 for 2 Also has haste if needed.
Thrun, the Last Troll might work better but in not sure if three is a good number, haven't owned any yet unfortunately lol.

Thrun, the Last Troll tends to be 1-2 of in the sideboard depending on how often you face control/ blue varient decks. If it's more common Id suggest 2 if it's more of the latter you only need 1 for those rare times you face blue. And he boar while good isn't as needed for modern when your able to use a BTE for 2 creatures to enter for it. This deck is cheap and effective when it comes to aggro. You play out ur deck then swing till their is nothing left. Id suggest though if your taking the splash seriously Tasigur, the Golden Fang and Lingering Souls because those can be very effective in providing blockers and board pressure if need be. Again that's if the black splash is to stay And is showing up frequent enough
March 19, 2015 6:17 a.m.
Well, I'll have to test more, cause I think I'd only play tasigoyf if I can consistently drop him for 1 or 2. As for thrun, yea, I'm only currently playing this on untap.in where there is little to no control. So yea, thrun probably not my best idea ever... Really I'm just looking for a cheap body, but I dont know if tasigoyf is the way to go, mostly cause I dont know about black...

I play Tasigur, the Golden Fang all the time if your not in blue draw your playing at best turn 3 no sooner. Blue gives your yard more filler than most decks because a turn one can have a probe (2 life see hand of opponent then draw a card. It's a better Peek) fetch a land then play a serum visions with 3 cards in the yard turn 1 if not more if u have multiple probes
March 19, 2015 8:24 a.m.
Know what, I think I'll skip out on tasigoyf, I'm thinking of collected company instead. Collected company is nice cause as a top of curve it has potential to do exactly what I want this deck to do which is to gain significant board advantage. I'm also thinking of Domri Rade for mainboard and reducing SB numbers. Your thoughts on Collected Company and Domri Rade? I'd probably do 2 of each mainboard.

Sounds like an awesome idea. I'd drop 1x Atarka's Command And 3x Boros Charm. Double Strike is nice but you already have some sweet removal anyway. If your dead set on that then maybe drop Lightning Helix by 2 instead?
VenserFencer says... #1
I love the new Atarka's Command, but I'm just not sure of Loxodon Smiter; that's more of the Hatebears option.
