In the Council We Trust

Commander / EDH* WU (Azorius)

Endrobot

In the council, all at the table have their voices heard, all at the table prosper under the councils benevolence. of course, you benefit the most, but that’s just democracy baby. The Council of Four seems like an underwhelming card at first. Five cmc in azorius colors is nothing to sneeze at, and it’s text seems lackluster at best. but a 0/8 blocker provides more value than you’d expect, and when properly applied, it’s ability is quite strong. while slow at first, that’s just how the wheels of government are. all good things come with time, and while your opponents acquire the resources to murder eachother through your mutually beneficial Council-Certified-Communal-Card-Draw, you sit back, make a significant amount of tokens and most of all, draw so, so many cards. This is what the well oiled machine of democracy looks like, letting everyone kill eachother while you sit back and profit the most. That being said, your opponents are getting quite strong, so we’re running a decent amount of removal, counterspells, and incentives to not attack you, so your opponents don’t get too out of control. Plus, your private military makes quite good chump blockers for big threats, and can swing in for the kill if your enemy’s aren’t careful. all in self defense, of course. That being said, your hired help may not be enough to ensure victory, so card draw based wins are the alternative, either by enhancing creatures like Chasm Skulker, doing direct damage with Psychosis Crawler, or doing what politicians do best, classic filibusters with Coming of the Second Son or Triskadaedecaphile
