In the Eye of a Hurricane There is Quiet

Commander / EDH Four Color Storm UBRG

troublesomeCharlatan

As some of you may know, I did make a previous attempt at a Yidris deck last year. However, while that one was built purely around the concept of chaos and the Cascade mechanic, this deck instead utilizes a different mechanic which I have recently taken to playing in Modern: Storm.

As is the case with any good Storm deck, this deck's purpose is to pump out a boatload of spells per turn, and as a result, there are a great deal of cheap spells included in this deck, such as Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, Gitaxian Probe, Serum Visions, Vampiric Tutor, Ancestral Visions, Lotus Bloom, and Dark Ritual, as well as cards like Baral, Chief of Compliance, Goblin Electromancer, and Helm of Awakening to make our spells cheaper. As you may have noticed, this deck also runs a great deal of spells that allow us to keep our hand full of useful resources at all times, including several of the aforementioned cards, Arcane Denial, Necropotence, various tutor cards, and Reliquary Tower, the latter of which prevents us from having to discard too many cards.

Now, with all of these draw and tutor spells, there has to be something that we're digging for, yes? The object of our searching is our Storm cards, namely Grapeshot for a boardwipe or decent chunks of damage, Empty the Warrens to improve our board state, and Tendrils of Agony, which drain our opponents for large chunks of their life totals. Furthermore, if we dig too deep, fear not! We also run a copy of Laboratory Maniac to turn that particular table around for us.

Finally, we also run a few Cascade/Pseudo-Cascade cards to remind us of where we came from. Along with these cards, namely Shardless Agent, Bloodbraid Elf, and Etherium-Horn Sorcerer, we run a few scry lands and Sensei's Divining Top to manipulate the top of our library.

And that's the deck! Feel free to leave comments about possible improvements that could be made to the deck, and I will implement them (if they work well) as soon as possible. Enjoy!
