I think you should try to include Wild Defiance your mainboard. It really helps with pumping, making all your +4/+4 stuff go to +7/+7. It's worth it, unless you're trying to use as little mana as possible.

Man, this is a cool deck! The versatility here is phenomenal!

Since you probably know the answer, would the first strike with Phyrexian Crusader resolve before it takes damage, thus giving the -1/-1 counter to the blocker before it takes damage?

Overall, this deck is really good. +1 from me

@Cinnamon_Buns, hmm not sure if that can fit. I mean it definitely does fit the them and it's already in my maybeboard, but this deck is already running little mana and my three-drop spot is saved for Phyrexian Crusader. Plus, I',m trying to win as early as possible. On the other hand, if I do decide to try it, I may try Livewire Lash instead. Livewire Lash is nice, in that not only does it still pump when I pump like Wild Defiance does, but when an opponent tries to remove equipped creature, it still does something, unlike Wild Defiance.

what part of black is appealing to you about this deck?

@Scouty, thanks man! All first strike means is that it deals its combat damage first, instead of at the same time. So Phyrexian Crusader would deal -2 first, before the other creature can hit it.

Ichorclaw Myr + Rancor is probably my favorite combo with infect, since it is likely to be blocked and then trample over. It's good you run a little hand hate and removal so that you ensure your pumps will go through. Also worth considering Wild Defiance for additional pumps. Looks good though!

shedidthistome Okay, thanks. I was unsure if the counters would be added before or after the conflict there.

Erm.. would I be out of line to ask of you to check out a modern deck I'm still working on? I'm probably sounding like spam already, but I'm working on a Naya Zoo deck and I'd like some outside opinion..

If at all interested, it's Naya Zoology 101

@Scouty, sure I'll look at it.

@nevadathestate, it was really difficult not putting Ichorclaw Myr in the mainboard -- and I think I eventually may do so in lieu of the four Plague Stinger.

@Narul, I like the hand-rip and permanent destruction that black offers. And of course, there's Phyrexian Crusader.

Blue Splash is more prevelant in higher tier infect decks, But thats your choice.

Wild Defiance is a must, this is your way to beat Control as it completely negates Lightning Bolt and Lightning Helix

4 Inkmoth Nexus is almost a necessity as its your best creature.

@bijschjdbcd, thanks, I will take your card suggestions into consideration. As far as I can see in the blue splashed decks, were Gitaxian Probe and Blighted Agent. I will miss the Blighted Agent, but this deck can certainly do without the Gitaxian Probe.

This sadly doesn't work with crusader and you have defiance, but, Apostle's Blessing is a nice way of early protection.

Mutagenic Growth can also be a decent pump spell, but it's more in the less interactive version of infect.

I would increase the Inkmoth Nexus count to 4 and the Urborgs to at least 2.

If you have the money the blue splash is worth it. Distortion Strike is gas.

Don't agree with 2 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth as you run a small landcount anyway and having 2 of these is at any time is just bad. Plus you don't have any greedy cards like Phyrexian Obliterator

@bijschjdbcd, I may make this 22-land, I may feel more comfortable with 22. 20 is just such an ugly number. Thoughts?

January 3, 2015 2:39 a.m.

bijschjdbcd says... #19

I feel like I am not the most suitable person to ask for this as I usually play decks with 25-28 land.

GlistenerAgent will probably be able to come up with some more cohersive answers that are actually based on playtesting rather than assumptions.

@bijschjdbcd, I am not familiar with @GlistenerAgent, but I am guessing they are a very knowledgeable player that plays Infect. I would love hear what she/he has to say!

bijschjdbcd says... #21

If he doesn't comment just have a look at his list on his page or the mini primer on the Modern Format primer.

20 seems a fairly safe number given the deck but I could be completely wrong.

Also as far as I know the @ is unnecessary and you can just put the brackets.

Fatal2498 says... #22

I personally run a B/G infect deck and find that only two phyrexian crusaders are needed. I run 4x Ichorclaw Myr because that and rancor are amazing together. Also i think that 22 lands are a bit much but that is your preference. For artifact hate Nature's Claim or Oxidize are good options. also for creature hate Geth's Verdict and Devour Flesh are good options.
