This is a table-top blue-black control deck focused on locking the opponent out of the game with Infernal Darkness. Simply put, we are looking for ways to circumvent the cumulative upkeep cost with Power Conduit and Poet's Quill.
If you're going against a non-black deck, then you can slam Infernal Darkness with almost 0 worries, as any counterplay options your opponents do have most likely cost colored mana to cast/use. This is the ideal use case for Infernal Darkness, as it lets you buy time to set up a lock.
Tribute Mage is an extremely powerful card in the deck, allowing you to search for a Power Conduit, Poet's Quill, or Void Mirror against decks that run free spells. Additionally, it serves as a creature to equip Poet's Quill for lifelink damage while getting +1/+1 counters from Power Conduit.
Poet's Quill is another deceptively good card in the deck, as it gives you access to your learn board. Confront the Past is in the deck to pick off any pesky planeswalkers that you haven't been able to deal with yet. Introduction to Annihilation can help you snipe a problematic permanent that is preventing you from winning the game. Mascot Exhibition gives you additional bodies to equip your Poet's Quill to, in case your opponent runs black removal spells and is able to still kill your creatures post Infernal Darkness. Finally, Teachings of the Archaics is useful if you are about to let go of your Infernal Darkness (if you have no lifelink or power conduit) and need a few extra cards to keep fighting a controlling game until you can re-establish a lock on the board.
Thanks to Profane Tutor, you have +2 copies of each lock piece in your deck (Infernal Darkness and Tribute Mage). The control package helps you snuff out your opponent's attempts to kill you early with removal spells such as Infernal Grasp, Cast Down, Go for the Throat, and Dead of Winter. Mana Leak can help you force an Infernal Darkness through an opposing counterspell.
Finally, to ensure you can still play your cards, there are 4 copies each of Chromatic Star and Arcum's Astrolabe. They each replace themselves and give you access to blue mana even with a resolved Infernal Darkness.
