Infinite Horizons

Commander / EDH*

WolfsCrescent

Sometimes, you just want to pump your Hydra Broodmaster and make 500 500/500 Hydras.

A deck focused on drawing every card under the sun while amassing so much floating colorless mana with the ability of your commander to stop it from emptying in order to play what can only be described as ludicrous amounts of mana for certain x-cost creatures.

For acceleration, creatures such as Wood Elves, Yavimaya Dryad, Sakura-Tribe Scout and Yavimaya Elder help us get our basics out early in order to start feeding into our commander's infinite mana pool. In order to help this, mana rocks like Mind Stone, Hedron Archive, and Dreamstone Hedron start quickly accelerating your mana base for as long as Kruphix stays on the field. If possible, getting Doubling Cube out doubles the amount of floating mana in your pool every turn, quickly turning your 5 floating mana into well over 100 floating mana if left unchecked.

For win conditions, we have a few:

  1. As it is with decks that run ways of getting giant amounts of mana, we have the ability to Blue Sun's Zenith an opponent for their deck times 100, if Kruphix is allowed to amass mana. This same strategy works for other cards in the deck such as Stroke of Genius and Braingeyser, or if you draw enough and feel particularly cheeky, tapping for the effect of Tomoya the Revealer

  2. Psychosis Crawler. With the aforementioned way to draw basically our entire deck, this guy quickly becomes the biggest threat on the board not only due to easily becoming a 30/30 or greater, but because any x cost draw spell drawn basically presents itself as an instant loss of the game (and potentially the friendship) of anyone you happen to be playing against.

  3. My personal favorite method to win with this deck, the use of Hydras and other x cost creatures like Hangarback Walker and Endless One makes you ask the question: just how much mana can I pump into these? If you play the deck right, the answer is all. All the mana. With proper board state, Polukranos, World Eater becomes a 1000 damage fight spell divided as you choose. Hydra Broodmaster makes 500 500/500 baby hydras for your opponent to play with, and Hangarback Walker ends up having more flying firepower on death than the entirety of the U.S Air Force.

  4. Laboratory Maniac. This is the deck's panic button. It is entirely possible that due to all the draw, you will run out of cards in deck sliiiiightly faster than normal. Laboratory Maniac makes it so that in this occurrence, the loss quickly becomes a surprise win.

Tactics:When piloting the deck, i find it best to keep your head down and focus on ramp. You're gonna be slower than most other decks on the table. Stifle and counterspell whenever a threat appears, hold onto your mana, and draw cards until you have the gas to destroy these insolent mortals in the name of Kruphix.

Hope you guys enjoyed the deck. Let me know if you have any questions. And may you ramp well, always.

P.S: In case you guys are wondering why I have a banned Prophet of Kruphix, the Commander group at my college allows us one banned card in our decks. If you would prefer to not run it, I would suggest an extra, cheaper ramp spell or a Kiora's Follower to untap your mana rocks.
