This is a variation of a deck by Behgz which you cand find here. However, this version is much more budget friendly in terms of dual lands and sideboard, and I feel that the card draw options in my deck are better (I much prefer Read the Bones over Divination). If you have more money to spend, I would recommend getting the scry lands from the Theros block, as they can help you to launch your combo sooner. Here is a basic overview of the purpose of some of the cards in this deck:
The main pieces of the combo are Midnight Guard, Ornithopter, Retraction Helix, and Altar of the Brood. Once you have Altar of the Brood in play, cast Retraction Helix on Midnight Guard, and tap him to return Ornithopter to your hand. Play Ornithopter again, causing Midnight Guard to untap and your opponent to mill one card. Repeat this process.
The secondary strategy with this deck involves Ensoul Artifact. This card can turn a Darksteel Citadel into a 5/5 indestructible creature, or a Ornithopter into a 5/5 flying creature. Heliod's Pilgrim can tutor up an Ensoul Artifact, and then be used as a chump blocker later.
Disciple of Deceit is an efficient way of tutoring up pieces of your combo. If you are having trouble activating its inspired ability, Springleaf Drum can tap Disciple of Deceit at instant speed. In addition, Springleaf Drum can help you speed up your combo once you have all the pieces, and it can give you colors you need if you are having mana issues. Tomard's Crypt can be tutored into an Ornithopter with Springleaf Drum, or it can be used to slow down certain decks that utilize the graveyard (Delve much?). Read the Bones is a great card draw option, and the scry can help you get just what you need.
Overall, this is a very synergetic deck, and probably the cheapest type of combo deck in Standard right now (not that there is much competition). Suggestions are welcome!
