Dave

Would Windswept Heath do the same thing as Verdant Catacombs in this case? I only ask because of Verdant's $30 price tag.

Absolutely, toxicliam. This list was made prior to the fetch reprints.

And you could use Helix Pinnacle in this deck too, Madroxasmon30. I just prefer Craterhoof Behemoth as a finisher for my combo, since it has to be countered or else some of my creatures get pumped up to infinity. The helix pinnacle could just eat some enchantment/artifact hate and ruin my wincon, so I don't think it would be the better option in any case.

helix pinnacle has shroud though, so unless they have an enchantment wipe, behemoth would be easier to counter that way. So either way, it is a challenge. Love the deck by the way!

You're right. I totally overlooked that it had shroud.

I guess it's equally good as Craterhoof for a wincon. My only defense for Craterhoof now is that it could be useful outside of the combo.

And thanks a ton! This deck is my pride and joy of the MTG world.

It's nice to some old school combos coming back from the dead. I remember when your usernam used to be 'V-something'. Does that make me old school?

The Elvephants never die, they only slumber. The bans made this deck a looooooot better. I can't even begin to express how much better.

And fuck yeah. That was like.. a year ago? That's a pretty long time I guess. I switched to Dave shortly after I made this deck. The original Dave was inactive forever, so yeago let me steal his name.

It seems something like Fog might be good in sideboard

March 2, 2015 3:48 p.m.

Hi, looking over your deck seeing as you really only use Staff of Domination to untap a mana creature I was wondering if Umbral Mantle could be used, because I would like to start to Assemble this deck and I was looking over prices

It could be used, but Staff of Domination is also used so you can draw your whole deck, gain infinite life, etc. It is less vulnerable than Umbral Mantle. Unless the creature you're pumping has haste, it can be chump-blocked. Staff would guarantee you the game when it combos, Umbral Mantle would not. I'd recommend swapping them for Staffs asap.

I don't think Fog would fit in the sideboard, personally. It may be worth testing if you're getting hosed by aggro often.

Ok thanks

No problem. :) I hope it all works out for you. It's a really fun deck to play.

Dave says... #15

Oh, I meant "unless the creature you're pumping has trample" not haste. My bad.

Wow, beautiful deck, but just barely $320 above my budget lol. Definitely upvote.

Another question, what is way to get Intruder Alarm out faster? Not cast wise but drawing it wise.

Drift of Phantasms to transmute to search for it.

what do you think of Voyaging Satyr to untag utopia-sprawled lands and nykthos?

May 10, 2015 3:50 p.m.

@carysh nykthos is kinda useless without other lands to tap for it, and Arbor Elf can untap utopia'd lands and Breeding Pools

May 10, 2015 3:55 p.m.

carysh says... #21

yeah voyaging satyr is actually not that good.

how about Imperious Perfect for infinite elves and +1/+1?

May 10, 2015 9:23 p.m.

Presence of Gond? carysh, and Coat of Arms is good for infinite/infinite

May 10, 2015 9:46 p.m.

carysh says... #23

Yeah but imperious perfect gives you a body and counts for elvish arch druid.Coat of arms is good for infinity/infinities.

Oh shit guys. Idk if Caligula has been sneaking this on feature or what, but I haven't really been playing much Magic or even browsing this site lately. My apologies for the much-delayed reply.

I've tried Imperious Perfect, but I didn't have very good results so I cut it.

I would use Coat of Arms, but it takes up a valuable deck slot for me. Drawing into it is shitty. I need to get it on the infinite draw combo for it to really be effective, and at that point it becomes a 'win more' card imo. I don't do too much beatdown with this deck unless it really fails hard.

And MirkoVosktheMilkDrinker, I find mulliganing is usually pretty efficient for getting out the intruder alarm. Beyond that, a hand with a bunch of Elvish Visionarys and Coiling Oracle helps a lot. Gives you your devotion/elf count and also helps you thin out the deck.

No sneaky ness here bro! I've just been lurking on the site, making gains. =)
