@theonyc, I'll take that as a compliment, hehe.

@ everyone else, do you think all the creature kill spells I'm running fit in well with my deck and commander games in general? I wanted a plentiful amount of creature kill spells and a splash of hand destruction to protect my ass when players start targeting me and only me, because of the fact I'm running infect.

I made a version of this that uses Breeding PitMTG Card: Breeding Pit with Grafted ExoskeletonMTG Card: Grafted Exoskeleton maybe i'll post it later lol still have a LOT of kinks to work out however I will say you need more artifact ramp. also Caged SunMTG Card: Caged Sun works with cabal coffers lol

@Ohthenoises, your version sounds cool, looking forward to checking it out! I'll look over your artifact card suggestions and see what I can do.

see, decks like these are why i don't play edh, it is you and your terribly good decks fault, shame on you, you should feel terribly (that is a compliment)

Depends on where you plan on playing this. I play in a 15 person EDH every now and then and I play Olivia VoldarenMTG Card: Olivia Voldaren as my commander. Needless to say, I will get FFed more then you will. There are far more dangerous generals out there that other people will be watching out for. However, like I said it depends on your meta one on one hand destruction is a little more important than when in a 15 player game when you have to play Russian roulette and then you have made an enemy.

one on one If you play your skytherix I will either just kill it with olivia or steal it depending on the mana I have on hand and since she is my commander you can't make me discard her. Point is it depends on your meta.

@theonyc, haha very nice, BUT I wouldn't count your losses just yet! Commander is usually a multiplayer game with 3+ players, so I'm assuming once the other players see the power in my deck, they will focus on me and take me out ASAP. That's why I also suggest Mikaeus, the UnhallowedMTG Card: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed as a possible switch-out commander, because this way, no one will see the infect coming beforehand.

@mtuchler, proliferate doesn't actually target anything, you choose the permanents or players.

March 5, 2012 8:12 p.m.

scholar says... #8

@hunter9000, I would think that it is an ability target, much in the same way creature enchantments do not say "enchant target creature". But you obviously have to target a creature with it, while it is on the stack.

lets see, at the end of the week ill try making the best commander out their and ill kick everyones ass, jk, but ill post it when I'm done, any ideas

Ohthenoises says... #10

Actually the rules text on cards with proliferate (Contagion ClaspMTG Card: Contagion Clasp) say "you choose" so it does not target. Also I just asked in the Q&A section and was told no

@Ohthenoises, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. Livewire LashMTG Card: Livewire Lash is still a decent filler, in my opinion.

March 5, 2012 8:19 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #12

it's ridiculous and is an auto include but I would rate Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe above it in decks like this, mainly for the reason that ANY swamps on the battlefield boost it including your opponents.

March 5, 2012 8:22 p.m.

scholar says... #13

@Ohthenoises, honestly, I'd probably go for Nightmare LashMTG Card: Nightmare Lash over Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe if I was going to do that. Thoughts?

March 5, 2012 8:24 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #14

Also like I mentioned above caged sun works with cabal coffers which means each swamp produces 3x mana (I included Consume SpiritMTG Card: Consume Spirit in mine for that reason)

March 5, 2012 8:26 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #15

Eh. It's "cheaper" but you're losing out on those people playing black against you (which besides red is the only real threat to you due to the creature kill) and for 2 more mana. I suppose its just a personal choice and again depends on your meta.

March 5, 2012 8:29 p.m.

hunter9000 says... #16

I like Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe better. For 4 mana you can cast and equip the scythe, and all swamps on the battlefield count toward it like Ohthenoises said.

Nightmare LashMTG Card: Nightmare Lash costs 4 mana plus 3 life to cast and equip, and only your own swamps count.

March 5, 2012 8:30 p.m.

hunter9000 says... #17

I meant 6 to cast and equip the scythe, my bad.

March 5, 2012 8:31 p.m.

scholar says... #18

@Ohthenoises, ah I see what you're saying, that's a great point. Plus I also like your Caged SunMTG Card: Caged Sun suggestion. Dammit, now I gotta do more tweaking!

March 5, 2012 8:31 p.m.

Ohthenoises says... #19

lol if you're going to be making obscene amounts of mana you're gonna need a dump for it just be aware.

March 5, 2012 8:33 p.m.

scholar says... #20

@Ohthenoises, I'd like to add a Caged SunMTG Card: Caged Sun and a Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe as you have suggested? Any idea on which two cards to take out? Having a rough time here deciding...

March 5, 2012 9:04 p.m.

theonyc says... #21

Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe +urbog land thingy, i agree with strata scythe, i would rather have that and caged sun then shrine of discarding

March 5, 2012 9:07 p.m.

theonyc says... #22

and maybe 1 swamp? why is Platinum AngelMTG Card: Platinum Angel their?

March 5, 2012 9:09 p.m.

scholar says... #23

@theonyc, Platinum AngelMTG Card: Platinum Angel is just a support throw in. Search it out to save me if I'm going to die soon.

March 5, 2012 9:10 p.m.

theonyc says... #24

i see, yah but maybe one swamp, its a cheap deck, so i think one more land won't hurt, the good part of caged sun is that you might actually play your 12 drop and not just hold it in your hand.

March 5, 2012 9:12 p.m.

scholar says... #25

Took out Tectonic EdgeMTG Card: Tectonic Edge for Caged SunMTG Card: Caged Sun, now not sure how to work Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe in there... perhaps Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe over LashwritheMTG Card: Lashwrithe???
