I would recommend Tainted StrikeMTG Card: Tainted Strike to turn your opponents' non-infect creatures into infecting ones. Also, Virulent WoundMTG Card: Virulent Wound can be a good combat trick.

It looks good, try to squeeze in

  • Lashwrithe
  • Nightmare Lash

Both cards I think are a better answer then the scythe. Sure they are 4 mana to play, but one gives you a living weapon. They both rely on the number of swamps in play. But they are cheaper to equip, lash writhe is two phyrexian mana, while the nightmare lash is straight up 3 life. Much more aggressive since people will be gunning for you using infect.

however Kyro_Freed Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe gets +1/+1 for swamps under your opponents control too. Also, LashwritheMTG Card: Lashwrithe is a total of 6 cmc (not including the life cost) and so is Strata ScytheMTG Card: Strata Scythe.

@ohthenoises: With infect you need to be a bit more aggressive, yes they are the same total mana if you exclude the life payment. But with infect in general you usually want to go fast with it. otherwise they'll drop a few titans or something annoying like Elish Norn and then your hooped.

@Kyro_Freed, LashwritheMTG Card: Lashwrithe is already in the mainboard.

I noted that, forgive my hang over. Nightmare lash would be still a great edition to the deck though.

Graveyard Hate?

Bojuka bog, Tormod's crypt, Relic of Progenitous (sp?), Nihil Spellbomb, etc...

Beseech the Queen for another tutor.

Underworld Dreams to take care of all those pesky "ill draw my deck" decks.

Also...take the Skythrix out of the main deck...its included in the count when its not in there. When you look at the statistics of your deck, it should say Cards: 99

if you just so happen upon the losing end of the stick, you should bomb out a few crazy demons. it isn't exactly unexpected in a black deck but when you have a bunch load of infect, the last thing the expect you to whip out is some massive 9/9 with flying and trample.

Give a Pestilence DemonMTG Card: Pestilence Demon infect. Deathtouch if you got some is handy. It's way more entertaining then Plague WindMTG Card: Plague Wind when your loosing. Demon of Death's GateMTG Card: Demon of Death's Gate is a fun card as well. Don't limit your self to just infect, add a few surprises that they don't see coming. However keep mostly to infect.

Wither is an old ability that you should look into if you just want to stick a -1/-1 on everything that moves. Corrosive MentorMTG Card: Corrosive Mentor would do amazing in here.

I did see that you had some wither on the board, but there is a lot more of it out there.

their is only 3 things without infect and one of them is an artifact, i would also keep Plague WindMTG Card: Plague Wind as a finishing game thing, i agree that you might want some stronger creatures, if you can easily give them infect.

@Jokernaught, awesome idea of Pestilence DemonMTG Card: Pestilence Demon equipped with a Grafted ExoskeletonMTG Card: Grafted Exoskeleton or enchanted with a Glistening OilMTG Card: Glistening Oil!! May try to work those two cards in after I playtest and decide what to take out!

I like PhyresisMTG Card: Phyresis better than Glistening OilMTG Card: Glistening Oil. The -1/-1 counters it gives your opponent's creature are too slow for removal, and it won't weaken your Pestilence DemonMTG Card: Pestilence Demon each turn.

Jokernaught says... #14

I usually combo Pestilence DemonMTG Card: Pestilence Demon with Corrosive MentorMTG Card: Corrosive Mentor and abuse Fate TransferMTG Card: Fate Transfer and Kulrath KnightMTG Card: Kulrath Knight. Then I really end the day with Everlasting TormentMTG Card: Everlasting Torment and Flame SlashMTG Card: Flame Slash.

I would have suggested those, but skittles is a boss EDH general and I don't think you should split up for other colors. And you really already slam counters on everything as it is. I don't think you need any more then what you got.

Thoughts on BatterskullMTG Card: Batterskull in main?

theonyc says... #16

as i said above, i would try making an edh deck, i desired to go with mono black vampires, it is not done and i don't know who will be the commander, but here it is: vampires commander, any suggestions would be helpful, also any commander ideas would be great. it still needs some cards though

March 10, 2012 1 p.m.

scholar says... #17

@theonyc, I'm just getting into commander myself so I'm not sure how helpful my advice is to you, but I hear that Olivia VoldarenMTG Card: Olivia Voldaren is a painfully brutal commander. I know you said mono black, but when you said vampires and commander ideas in the same sentence, I immediately thought of her.

can you use something with a double mana symble thing in your deck even if your deck doesn't have the second color? like could you use something like Everlasting TormentMTG Card: Everlasting Torment in your deck or not

Any of you guys have suggestions for my sideboard? I think it's decently solid at the moment, buy please, have at it. The maybeboard is pretty much a sideboard maybe.

as inviting as Blightsteel ColossusMTG Card: Blightsteel Colossus is, its tutorable from an opponents AcquireMTG Card: Acquire or BriberyMTG Card: Bribery which, in my playgroup, is used quite often. Its painful seeing the colossus used against you.

March 12, 2012 3:18 a.m.

@nochance229, I've got enough creature kill, that I'm not exactly worried about it. Haven't even had a solid chance to playtest yet, waiting for my last remaining cards to arrive in the mail. I'll play it out, see what works, what doesn't, and let you all know.
