Lots of tokens, some control, tokens, hard-hitters, tokens, keeping your assets, and tokens. Oh, did I mention tokens? That might have been missed.
Deck breakdown:
Voice of Resurgence: Easily the crown of the deck, this creature will allow for your army to grow, or at least start growing. Even upod death, it helps keep your field numbers up.
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice: You more or less NEED to run Trostani in a deck with Populate and G/W in Standard anymore, but in this deck she is used for a life control engine, as well as to make more minions for you to hurl into battle.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos: Another important part of this deck's offensive strategy, this will help your field numbers grow as well as provide a safeguard against your opponent's one-off attackers.
Ephara, God of the Polis: For the simple reason that you get an indestructible draw-power card, this is important to have.
Thassa, God of the Sea: Another indestructible source of necessary abilities, Thassa will allow you to choose your cards more freely at each upkeep, as well as make one or more of your biggun's unblockable.
Armada Wurm: Another decent drop for the mana you pay for it, this will bring out 2 trampling 5/5 bodies for the cost of 3 CMC each.
Master of Waves: One of the keys to winning games with this deck, this card can seemingly only produce a few tokens upon EOB, but when you mix it with Progenitor Mimic or even Fated Infatuation you have the power of bringing out an army on your opponents at midrange.
Progenitor Mimic: For the reason just mentioned, this will help bring your number of creatures from high to massive. With the number of instants you have at your disposal with Populate, and a Mimic making a token of, say, Voice of Resurgence once per turn or more will make you unstoppable quickly.
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes: With the extra counter distribution and minor tutoring effects, most uses of this new planeswalker won't even be to get that extra 100 life. While it is nice, this card's utility comes from keeping your creatures big while providing even more card control to a deck that already has so much land and creature Scry.
Strategies:
Progenitor Mimic
+
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
: Of course not as effective by themselves, these combined with, say, Armada Wurm, will put out a guaranteed 10 life or more per turn for you, as long as your Trostani stays alive.
Master of Waves
+
Progenitor Mimic
: Since this deck doesn't have a very high devotion to blue, combining these two cards will be idea to amass an army of 1/0 Elementals that become 2/1 upon entering, then 3/2 next turn, then 4/3, then 5/4, then 6/5....
Thassa, God of the Sea
+
Voice of Resurgence
: Thassa can make thing(s) unblockable. This, combined with the token drop effect of VoR, can be very effective in producing a walking bomb of combat damage, especially after populating once or twice.
Ajani, Mentor of Heroes
+
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
: If you are comfortable spending Ajani's effect once a turn on Brimaz to keep him growing in power, that's exactly what you should do if you can find yourself on the offensive. A beefed up Brimaz can not only be a damn good offensive weapon, but as well as a deterrent to your opponent's offensive strategies (as long as they don't have flying, that is.) That extra cat token comes in handy, as well.
Fated Infatuation
+
Giant Adephage
+
Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
: Being able to get out your Giant Adephage, gaining 7 life, dealing damage with it, and gaining another 7/7 body with another 7 life would be great. Getting a token immediately without needing to attack while still gaining 7 life twice; that would be excellent.
The mana curve can become an issue with this deck, so any suggestions are helpful. I am considering removing the Giant Adephages and adding 2 more Voice of Resurgence to keep the mana curve a bit lower while providing that much needed token production. Any other suggestions, like swapping cards out for more effective or less costing ones, or even a switch up of strategies, would be greatly accepted. Please don't just say that it's a crappy deck or whatever; something that isn't constructive isn't wanted.
