So question. Why Mystic Retrieval ? Like, what does it actually do for the deck? How do you use it? Is it good?

In my personal experience from actual games, Mystic Retrieval is very good. It's extra copies of my best disruption and removal cards in the mid to late game, with the ability to pick and choose exactly what I get. Most of the time it's pulling back a Counterflux , Barter in Blood , or Dreadbore to keep my opponent locked down and helpless. Sometimes it's pulling back a Bonfire of the Damned or Rakdos's Return to help finish the game with damage. The dream play is using it to hit my opponent with multiple Slaughter Games after sideboarding (at the last FNM I attended, there was a game where I got to cast 5 of them). Also, tossing it to Liliana of the Veil makes it cheaper.
The original reason it was included in the deck was because I saw how useful it appeared to be in KrazyCaley's Bolas for a Better Tomorrow. That usefulness translated very well to the build I eventually came up with.

Mystic Retrieval really is boss. It's terrible against aggro decks, but in almost any other situation it's extremely clutch.
Also, I don't think it's that big a deal that this deck has no ramp, because it can control FOREVER. There are only three non-lands in the deck that don't directly keep us safe/keep our opponent controlled in some way, and they are Rakdos's Return , which prevents threats from being cast indirectly, Think Twice , which draws us controlling cards, and Mystic Retrieval , which can recur controlling cards.
You don't NEED ramp if you can just sit literally forever.

Interesting. I've never actually considered the card, so it's good to hear some input. Thanks~!

Oh no problem. I really like this deck and the super friends theme here. All of the blue and black planeswalkers are so powerful most of them can win a game on their own and if you back those walkers up with control elements then your opponent is going to be in a bad spot. +1
