I believe what seakeal is saying, is that you would only have to pump the Kiln Fiend or Nivix Cyclops to at least a ten power, swing, and in case you don't have an Assault Strobe , you could fling it for the final ten damage.

Maybe Quicken , or Crimson Wisps ?
Quicken increases the spell count while drawing more spells and enables an instant double strike ("1/2 Kiln Fiend ? No, I won't block", "Ok, I play Quicken , Assault Strobe , and Mutagenic Growth . Good Bye.")
Crimson Wisps helps in midgame. And it also lets you draw a card.

I also like Apostle's Blessing , as it is very versatile. You could use it to protect your creature or to prevent a block.

How about some of the pacts? Pact of Negation would be great to seal the win if they try to stop one of your pieces.

Pact of Negation is a great card. It's currently about $8 though, and this is a budget deck. If it wasn't, I'd remove the Sulfur Falls and add a playset of Scalding Tarn , as well as a playset of Manamorphose , and I'd replace Mana Leak with Remand . In fact, I'd make a ton of changes to this deck if I had more money to spend on it. I think the reason i've gotten so many votes is that I made a fun, somewhat viable deck for less than $100. (i've put about $60 into it)

Remand could be used as a counterspell with card draw.

I was able to play this deck a lot in the past few days against some very good opponents. most of them had fetch lands and all that jazz, including one U/W/R deck that had a playset of Cryptic Command . I won a couple games, but I've found with this deck that if it goes past turn 3, i need:
more removal. Vapor Snag has been performing well though.
a LOT more draw. Serum Visions might get added in. Wizards seems to hate efficient draw in modern, so i'm kind of stumped.
some recursion. Ideally something like Snapcaster Mage , but this is a budget deck.
I've also found that my creatures have a lot of potential, but they're incredibly vulnerable. Mizzium Skin and Mana Leak are working worders in that regard, but I think i just need more creatures.

Travis Woo maybe a month back a video for Channel Fireball where he runned similar list. He decided to also run black so he could play Tainted Strike , essentially giving him another Assault Strobe . With black being in the deck, he also run 4x Inquisition of Kozilek in sideboard to get rid of any removal before playing his threats. He also ran Apostle's Blessing to give some additonal protection. His list seemed to be more based on the one turn kill combo and couldn't really sustain pressure if it whiffed once or twice.
I'd say Serum Visions is the best cantrip for this kind of deck, replacing Faithless Looting . Spell Snare , Remand and Spell Pierce could be in the counter spell mix up.

It would be awesome for you to be a single mana over u opponent with Stitch in Time , also it would give u a second attack. Its ofcause only for later games because anyway u will not have enough mana. Just thought aboutr Dragonshift also, which would turn into a 7/4 flyer. Maybe in later games with duoble strike.

Dragonshift was a 2-of when i ran the Nivix Cyclops build in standard. Its not bad, but kinda too slow for modern. (the overload effect is good in edh tho). Stitch in Time seems fun, but not really competitive.
April 25, 2014 7:32 p.m.
If you combo Dragonshift + Armed + Nivix Cyclops OR Kiln Fiend (with at least one other creature out) you can swing for lethal (21 via 4 from the dragon and 7x2 from the Cyclops or the Fiend)

Maybe add in 4x Goblin Electromancer and then you can use some bigger trigger/pump spells faster?
Oh also Titan's Strength needs to be in here!
April 30, 2014 11:42 p.m.
You've got too many lands here buddy, your curve is extremely low. Drop 2x Island for your 4th Sulfur Falls to put you at an even 20, then drop a Mizzium Skin and add 2x Madcap Skills to raise the curve a tad to make it easier justifying 20 lands and that way you can make your Nivix Cyclops some hard to block brutes.

To address the last few posts: Dragonshift is worth considering, 4x Goblin Electromancer s were cut from this a while ago since i didn't feel they were essential, and Titan's Strength is also worth considering. Armed is worth considering.
I agree that 1 land can be cut, given the extremely low curve. I frequently find myself dumping lands off when I Faithless Looting .
I was hesitant about it at first, but Mizzium Skin is absolutely vital in this deck. My win cons are 12 creatures that are all extremely vulnerable to removal.
Really the only push i think this deck needs is faster draw power. I still think i need Serum Visions but $6.25 for a common is just nuts. I might have to just break down and buy a few.
Also, once I've had a deck for a while, I always have a hard time removing cards for the new suggestions. If you feel like suggesting cards to add in, please try to suggest what it can replace also.
May 7, 2014 6:19 p.m.
I would also try and replace Delver of Secrets Flip with maybe some Magnivore for an alternate win con in case your Cyclops and fiends are getting roasted
May 7, 2014 6:33 p.m.
I agree with Serum Visions , but didn't mention it on account of budget. Maybe the solution could be had with 1 expensive card for flexibility purposes and transmutation.
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner could make it infinitely harder to destroy your creatures with targeted removal. But it's $11. A playset would be brutal. Drift of Phantasms on the other hand, is $0.25 a pop, and you can transmute it to grab Kira, or Nivix Cyclops and offer some flexibility. Or if you don't need either, it's a solid 0/5 with flying for a blocker. That might make you less dependent on Mizzium Skins and the like and offer some more flexibility in your deck. The solution would be cheaper than 4x Serum Visions by almost double.

Yes it would be. Fantastic in fact. Too bad it's banned in modern. so is Ponder .

"As an additional cost to cast Fling , sacrifice a creature."
So it won't give a cast trigger to Kiln Fiend or Nivix Cyclops . Fling is a great card (I have a DCI promo foil of it too) but i don't think it's good for this deck.
