INSANIDECK!

Errata: This primer hasn't been updated. Gitaxian Probe has been replaced with Pyretcic Ritual.

This is a combo deck whom's focus is to land either a turn one Sire of Insanity or 8-20 goblins. Loosely, InsaniDeck is comparable to the widely popular Legacy combo all-star deck Belcher, but arguably more consistent and reliable. This deck 82% of the time spits out either a $h!t ton of goblins or a Sire of Insanity turns 1-2 and will only cost you a fraction of the price to build. The entire deck (if you substitute Stomping Ground for Taiga and Overgrown Tomb for Bayou) only costs $201 without sideboard and $220 with sideboard.

Eat your heart out Belcher, InsaniDeck is here. One could argue that it boasts turn one win stats that are not only on par with that of Belcher, but are actually better. Using the same shell, InsaniDeck gets it's namesake win con from that of Sire of Insanity rather than Goblin Charbelcher .

In comparison, Goblin Charbelcher needs a total of at least 7 mana to be cast and activated making Lion's Eye Diamond usually necessary if you want to get those turn 1 kills. Sire of Insanity doesn't need LED as it's converted mana cost is only 6, and can't actually use LED anyway which retroactively drops the price of the deck a considerable $640.

Also, any Reanimator player knows that a turn one Sire of Insanity is almost nearly impossible to recover from. Goblin Charbelcher however is more conditional. Assuming you drop a turn one Goblin Charbelcher and activate it, you actually have (after drawing you're initial 7 cards) an 18.9% chance of hitting your land before it can deal enough damage to kill your opponent. Thats big! So rather than go for that expensive conditional Charbelcher win, hard cast Sire of Insanity instead.

Sire is not only easier to cast but more likely to grant you a win. We figure that with Belcher an 18.9% chance of hitting your land before it deals enough damage to kill your opponent is more likely than your opponent recovering from a turn one Sire. With a turn one Sire emptying your opponent’s hand, your opponent will not only need to be running either Swords to Plowshares, Maze of Ith or Dismember, they will also need to top deck them, and then top deck a land in which to cast them.

In our testing, assuming that getting either 8-20 goblins or landing a Sire either turn 1 or 2 was considered a win, out of exactly 100 games we got the following stats.

TOTAL GAMES: 100

82 Were turn 1-2 wins

60 of which were turn 1

22 of which were turn 2

18 were losses or didn’t go off until turn 3
