Mk. 3.6 —Feb. 10, 2017
New: Lavinia of the Tenth, Fatestitcher, Bloom Tender, Swan Song, Wastes
Cut: Ash Barrens, Land Tax, Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise, Windfall
I've been quite impressed with Kiora's Follower, and Fatestitcher does a suitable impersonation. He's more expensive up front, but if you Unearth him, a flicker will blank his exile-when-leaves-the-battlefield trigger (he's going to exile anyway, so the trigger effectively does nothing and he still comes back), meaning you can Unearth him again if he dies. With the extra untapper, Bloom Tender becomes much more powerful than the dorks that only produce a single mana. I haven't been that impressed with the one-drop mana spells much anyway (dorks and Land Tax), as I find they're quite good on turn 1 but much weaker than a hard ramp spell later on. I'm also cutting Windfall because I suspect I overestimated how frequently it would draw me seven cards and it hasn't been quite as good as I thought it would be.
Taking out these cards is leaves me with two more slots to fill. Swan Song is a 1-mana hard counter to many game-ending spells and opponents trying to interrupt my combo. Lavinia stops aggro decks cold; this spot used to be filled by Spike Weaver, but the Fog Machine requires repeated mana investment to work, and Lavinia also throws a huge wrench in my opponents' plans by shutting down mana dorks/rocks and literally anything with an activated ability (random crap like Birthing Pod, Goblin Welder, Mother of Runes, etc.). Finally, Wastes is a colorless source for Displacer that I can fetch up with Cultivate or Kodama's Reach, so I'm swapping out Ash Barrens for one.
