That makes perfect sense and you make valid points. The deck looks awesome and it really is great to have some new tools for it. Thank you for the response.

Thank YOU for appreciating my list! I see mtg as a way to express yourself, when you play and also when you build your deck. I'm glad to see so many players appreciating this side of the game and I hope wizards will continue to support these kind of decks, giving us new tools or even new commanders that can let us experiment and be creative.

why'd you ditch the volcanic island?

I don't own one and the mana base is fine even without it... I didn't want to proxy just one card for the entire deck. I still hope that one day we will be able to buy one of these lands for a reasonable price, but maybe I'm a fool

Have you thought about Ral Zarek? It's got the coin flip ultimate has a bit of removal too. Love the decklist!

Thank you! Yes, I thought about Ral Zarek but I don't think he really deserves to be in the list. It doesn't match the "win/lose a flip" theme (instead cares about "head/tail"), it draws hate because of the ulti, which can be extremely good but also completely useless (it's unlikely to lose 5 flips, but it may happen), and if you manage to play more turns thanks to it, it probably means that you were already winning. It's +1 is ok, but nothing really abusable in this deck, and it's -2 it's not so good. Maybe with a more "control oriented" version of this deck, with something with proliferate to make Ral faster...

So, what about Jeska, Thrice Reborn? Sure, the effect is not at instant speed, but an Okaun dealing triple damage sounds awesome...

I also thought about this card but there are several problems with Jeska, Thrice Reborn...

1) First of all, triple damage is not more useful than a simple +3/+3 with Okaun, Eye of Chaos.

  • If you win 0 coin flips, Okaun deals 3x3 = 9 (not enough to kill with commander damage)

  • If you win 1 coin flip, Okaun deals 6x3 = 18 (still not enough to kill with commander damage)

  • If you win 2 coin flips, Okaun deals 12x3 = 36 (more than enough)

If you give Okaun +3/+3 (or +3/+0) with a sorcery or an equipment, paying probably less than , the result is not so different:

  • If you win 0 coin flips, Okaun deals 6

  • If you win 1 coin flip, Okaun deals 12

  • If you win 2 coin flips, Okaun deals 24

2) You can't use Jeska at instant speed and it's easy to destroy a planeswalker that doesn't have so many counters on it.

3) Jeska's ability doesn't give trample/unblockability, you can still be blocked by a 1/1.

4) Jeska only cares about combat damage, so you can't use it with Soul's Fire or Chandra's Ignition.

Yeah, trample would be a game changer. That is one of the reasons I still run Shadowspear in my list. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

It's already in the deck! I'm just waiting for tappedout to make it available.

Yusri is exactly the card I was hoping for. It has a low mana value, it makes you flip a lot of coins in a single turn, it has a repeatable effect, it makes you draw, it's an efreet, it has a great art... and the last effect is the perfect reward for a gambler.

Yusri and Frenetic Efreet are already best buddies

Yusri is a really awesome card. Nice to see WotC design some more specific cards for coinflip tribal. Also makes for such an awesome target for your clone effects, as well. I keep my own deck relatively close to yours but I am always amazed that we come up with similar solutions! Ther have been released so many interesting commanders the past few months, but this deck is one of my absolute favourites that keeps pulling me back. You did an awesome job putting together this list, mate!

I totally agree! Some new izzet cards gave me inspiration for new strategies and new decks (I'm building a Zaffai "cheating big spells" deck) and I think WotC is giving us a lot of new interesting toys... This is what edh players really want, not new unavoidable staples like Fierce Guardianship , Jeweled Lotus ecc.

Thank you very much! Ironically I just added Fists of Flame because I found new combos and synergies with this card. Yusri already brought me luck.

I picked up this decklist in april of last year, and really enjoyed it, but as I make motions to purchase the physical list, I notice that you've made several changes in the past year... I curious why you cut Thassa's Oracle and if there are any other big changes to this list I should consider?

Thank you, glad you enjoyed this deck! I cut the oracle because I didn't like playing that combo. It just didn't feel like the others... maybe because it's a really abused card or because it didn't quite fit the theme of this list. Technically it's still "winning by flipping coins" because of Frenetic Efreet but it felt more like "winning by playing Thassa's Oracle ". I felt the same about Aggravated Assault and Sword of Feast and Famine and that's why I cut that combo too.

But there's also a less personal and more practical reason: the oracle is totally useless outside of that single combo and I found out that I could win more or less in the same way without even using it. Check the "End game with Zndrsplt" panel for all the details.

Just pulled a Yusri out of MH2 and have been wondering what to do with him. The chaos decks around coin flipping hasn’t really resonated with me, but this looks amazing. Thanks for posting!!

I recently acquired Copy Artifact and the somehow costier Transmute Artifact for one of my other decks and am certainly considering to implement both in my list. Same goes for Reshape , they utility is just awesome.

Transmute Artifact and Reshape are both great! The only reason I didn't include them (except price for Transmute Artifact ) is because I'm trying to not rely too much on tutors. Maybe I could replace Tribute Mage but I don't like the idea of needing an artifact in play for tutoring... It's definitely something worth testing.
