Isn't this the same deck that is being sold on secret lair minus the expensive stuff?

No, this is the pinnacle of a coinflip deck piloted by Zndrsplt / Okaun.
The basis of the deck that is being sold as Secret Lair rn is Gavain's own coinflip deck stripped off a few cards too expensive for WotC to be willing to reprint them (yeah, why should they reprint Rhystic Study...)

Like unwucht said, the secret lair list is exactly Gavin's list without the most expensive cards (because the secondary market means nothing to wotc... yeah, right...).
My list has many cards in common with that one (mostly the coin flip cards) but the focus here is about the deep exploration (and abuse) of the coin flip mechanic, using every single possibile (and actually "effective") synergy/combo available to win the game without going against this theme.

Hey there, love the deck! This and the Secret Lair inspired me to build my own. Played it for a couple games irl and had a blast.
The only question I had was, what is the Copy Artifact for? I have one and with Krark's Thumb being legendary, wasn't sure how you were using it. Thanks for any clarification!

Thank you, glad to have inspired you with some izzet madness
Copy Artifact can be used in many interesting ways but the easiest and usually most effective is to copy your Mana Crypt (or an opponent's one) to get more mana and more coin flip triggers. Because of its flexibility, for only is always a good card to play.
If you have Sakashima of a Thousand Faces in play you can also ignore the "legend rule", copy Krark's Thumb and do a lot of crazy things.

Gelectrode95 Thanks for the response!
Somehow I read the rest of your info here, but didn't realize I could click "Press Start". I'm still shocked about Mana Crypt having a coin flip with how long we've all been playing with it. We always just rolled a 1d6 for evens/odds.
I'll have to slot in Sakashima and give it a try. After playing, even having a second Zndrspelt would feel good.

My decklist is very close to this one. So last game knight I gave my Zndrsplt/Okaun deck to a buddy who wwanted to test something else than his own decks. Second turn he pulls of a Frenetic Efreet / Tavern Scoundrel, generates infinite treasures and wins the game. I never lost to one of my own decks so fast :P

I cloned this deck and took it for a spin at my shop last night. It went 4/4 and was an absolute blast to play. I won 8 coin flips in a row (without the thumb) and smashed out the win with a 768/768 Okaun/kediss swing. Currently being treated for coin-flip carpal tunnel but can’t wait to play it again. Awesome deck!

Thank you man! I feel you, true Okaun/Zndrsplt players don't use dices! Coin-flip carpal tunnel is our mark ahahahaha

It's surely a great card with a lot of potential. I don't think I will add it to my list but I recommend it for decks more focused on Okaun, with more spells dedicated to him that can trigger vesuvan duplimancy.

Dude! Awesome build and primer. I keep coming back and reading this. Your mindslaver combo should come with a warning about possibly getting jumped in the LGS parking lot.
