i don't know about Time Walk being banned, using your rare for an extra turn, i think its possible but should be discussed, id rather have a stronger rare

You cannot have a rare or mythic in your sideboard and any uncommons count towards your 4x limit.
April 5, 2012 7:16 p.m.
@theonyc: Dark Ritual is not banned. Time Walk is banned because a single copy can be abused to lock the other player out of the game with Isochron Scepter.
@HeartCruz: 10 uncommons would make many decks way too consistent. One of the goals of this format is to explore the interactions of cards that haven't been considered yet, and I think the 4-uncommon limit helps do that.
@Minousmancer: certain individual land destruction cards certainly could be bannable. Crucible of Worlds as Noble + 4x Strip Mine as uncommon is pretty harsh. @aloehart199: You're exactly right. If two friends want to play a casual game with banned cards, I'm not going to stop them. Post your decks in the comments, I'd love to see them. @gereffi: Some of the cards you mentioned are overpowered and are ripe for ban. Yawgmoth's Will is on the ban list. I don't think Force of Will, Vedalken Shackles, or Kira, Great Glass-Spinner are too overpowered but I could be wrong. Goblin Guide and Ball Lightning are generally fine I think. Tarmogoyf takes a lot more work when you don't have access to fetchlands and such. Umezawa's Jitte is potentially nuts. Splinter Twin and Elemental Mastery are up for ban consideration and are very likely to go. Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker might be fine unless red ramp breaks him. Presence of Gond is easily broken and highly bannable, same with Intruder Alarm. Tombstalker is good but isn't too crazy. Dark Confidant is great but dies to a slight breeze. @ComputersAreDifficult: Battle of Wits is legal for now, winning on turn 6 seems fine, and it would certainly make for an interesting deck. If someone finds a way to break that card it will be banned, but having 200+ cards makes for a pretty inconsistent deck. Regarding sideboards, your 4 uncommons are shared between the mainboard and sideboard. So if you have 1 Path to Exile in your sideboard you are only allowed 3 other uncommons in your main. @Conphas: I generally agree with KorApprentice that a turn 5 wins feel about right. It gives both players a chance to set up and enact their strategies. I think that winning on turns 2-3 just makes the opponent feel awful because they didn't get to set up any strategies. Playing against a Yawgmoth's Will deck just isn't any fun because you just sit there while your opponent essentially plays solitaire. Playing against a Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker deck isn't as bad because if you lose, there was probably something you could have done differently to win. @UlamogsGyre: definitely post your lists here! As for the EDH ban list, a lot of those cards (like Biorhythm) would be good here, but not necessarily broken. Karakas, Metalworker, Tolarian Academy are ban targets. The rest are either already banned or should be slow enough to be fine.

If I missed anything bug me again or post on my wall. Thanks for all of the comments and questions! I will update the banned list very soon.

"Crucible of Worlds as Noble + 4xStrip Mine as Uncommon is pretty harsh." - Agreed, that was my first deck idea.
April 5, 2012 8:17 p.m.
I'll consider Strip Mine for a ban. Also, I added Splinter Twin and Elemental Mastery to the banned list.

I'm really enjoying just building decks in the format, im definitely going to get people into this. one way or another lol. I could easily build "intro" decks to give away with it being such a cheap format

I think a neat way to market this to wizards (if you haven't thought about that yet you should) would be something like the From the Vault Legends and make a deck for each creature in that set to give them an idea of how it could be packaged. If you understand what I'm saying at all lol.

We could split the task up of doing that between Minousmancer, Crivaro, Ohthenoises, KorApprentice, & graft: Then we could all help each other Play-test the decks find weaknesses and find solutions and we would all come out with topnotch decks to present to WotC/Hasbro.

+1 for the deck, also on sideboarding, say I have 4 uncommons in the deck, cood I have 4 uncommons in sideboard but have to trade them in for other uncommons if I wanted to mainboard them? OR wood that be considered 8 uncommons and therefore be non-legal?

4 uncommons may be split between your deck and sideboard as you see fit but the deck including the sideboard may only include 4 uncommons total.

Interestingly, Tinker is uncommon, but I cannot for the life of me think of any broken artifacts that it can search for.
April 6, 2012 9:35 a.m.
You have to ban Stoneforge Mystic- if this deck used Stoneforge, it would be broken.

Conphas, there are at least a dozen viable combo's in this format that can win on turn 3 or 4, so a turn 5 win could even be considered slow. UlamogsGyre, the ban list is already up and it is in the description. Cards will only be considered for banning on an individual basis, we will not be copying another format's ban list directly. If we happen to come up with the same banned cards, then at least we will have discussed every option.
