Also, why is Skullclamp banned in this format (or any for that matter)?

Just added Skullclamp to my Noble Modular Affinity deck as an example, try it out and you will see why drawing two cards for one colorless is broken.

Lol now Minousmancer is definitely trolling. Hahahaha, yeah, if you want something similar try Infiltration Lens, its great because your creatures are unblockable, then when their at low life you draw two cards and kill one of their creatures every time you attack.

This would be pretty huge, but I think the format would be better off with 6 uncommons per deck. That allows a little more flexibility.

Heres a fun Noble precon deck: Noble: Armament Master, MRSP Price: $25, and the Armament Master is foil. Boom, there ya go, perfect.

Two things, I get how it's over powered, but here is my argument, you have to kill your creature for it and if you draw two lands well that just sucks.
No I'm not trolling I've never actually played against the card and I think Sword of Body and Mind is more broken than Skullclamp.
April 6, 2012 3:45 p.m.
I edited the deck, its "for sale" now for only $19.99! yay
April 6, 2012 3:48 p.m.
Well its not... Heres why: equip your skullclamp to a 1/1 you have, it dies, you draw two. Then you can play those again. If one of them is a 1/1, play, equip, and repeat. If not, then equip it to another creature you have for a power bonus, then go swing in every turn until they finally block it and deal with it, then you draw two again, probably into another creature, play it, equip, repeat... you see what I mean? The creatures are recyclable, and you get two cards for one little creature you probably dont care about. Then you can just keep doing that all game...

Seems neat. Just from a judge / rules lawyer point of view -- instead of creating a whole new 'noble' zone, can you just use the command zone, instead? seems easier / more straightforward.

landot that doesn't work, it would make this format broken and boring to play.
As an example: Take my deck:pauper-chastic-flow deck, if I could keep casting Eon Hub after it was destroyed, it is a guarantee that I'd win, but because I can't I have to race against time to kill my opponent before the Cumulative upkeep-of 2 life takes me out.

Great start! I threw it up on Reddit for more attention for it. (I've been wanting a format like this to abuse always having a Nim Deathmantle)
"I don't see the point in creating a "Noble" zone, other than as a nominal way to set your format apart: the rules already support the Command zone as a place to put objects/markers other than commanders, notably emblems. Why not just use the Command zone?"
I think this is a valid point. It's better not to try to introduce a new zone to the game if possible. And this way we don't have to write any new rules except maybe a note that "Nobles can not return to the Command Zone as Generals may".
Anyways, thanks for getting this started up! Looks like it has a good deal of promise to evolve into something fun.

Yeah, that would make sense, don't want to add new zones to the game, and its actually easier to explain in the rules: "All of the same rules that apply to a General apply to a Noble, but Nobles cannot return to the command zone once being cast." This seems like a great way to get new players interested and understanding Magic the Gathering. It could be a side mini tournament at FNM's.... a few Noble players, seperate from the standard.

This is extremely cool. I want to get building decks for this with my friends.

My first deck for noble. Works pretty well, at least from my playtesting:

Isn't is really fun to make Noble decks? I can't stop, I've got 6 already, if you count the banned ones. Those can be fun too, just not for the opponent.
April 6, 2012 8:34 p.m.
Hahaha yeah. I'm just experimenting... it's all new to me, and hey, I have no life... yeah, I'm mostly trying to make decks that would be presentable to wizards as a legitimate marketable format. The elf one would have to be a very expensive precon... but man if this ever became real, I would buy it.

How far do you guys want to take this format? Do you hope to get it to become a very known thing, and have any of you brought it up with your local game store? Cause I think that it would be totally awesome if we could get this format to be a recognized format thats played at FNM, or even when the store does there weekly EDH tournaments

Ezuri, Renegade Leader green ramp and you win turn 4 everytime.

It would not be very difficult to remove Ezuri, Renegade Leader, so it really depends on the deck you are playing against. A good Noble deck will have answers to such a thing.

Yes, Minousmancer, I was trolling... you know, joking? Anyway, can I get in on this preconstructed deck making assignment, for the from the vault legends kind of thing? Because first, we need a list of all the rares/cards in this From the Vault: Nobles box..... any ideas? We could start with [[Gideon's Avenger, thats a nice starting place.
