You might want to ban ad nauseum. I've made a rough deck based on TPPS and ANT that can achieve turn 1 wins and at the latest t3. Noble Storm

Should Painter's Servant be banned for the Grindstone combo?
April 7, 2012 3:05 a.m.
The Painter's Servant + Grindstone combo won't work because they're both rares, so doubt it. (:

Oops, yeah I guess so, haha. Forget I said that, haha.

This is very intriguing. I agree with the FAQ, this seems geared towards taking an overlooked rare that just screams to you "USe ME!" but you can't find a way to use it without getting hosed in other formats. I have so many of those it's funny. As soon as I have a Noble build up I will link it here for discussion. :D

I have a rules question:
Say I'm running Emrakul, the Aeons Torn as my noble and it gets killed (hard to imagine). His graveyard ability would be activated, but in the noble format, should he go back to the noble zone? Or should he return into my Library?

Cards do not return to the Noble Zone for any reason. Emrakul, the Aeons Torn could be a great Noble, I'd love to see your deck with him DamenPulse. What cards are you going to use to cast him? Regular green ramp? Red ramp or Eldrazi Spawn? Could be a very interesting deck.

Actually, he was just an example, but I do want to build an eldrazi deck with one of the large legendary Eldrazi as the noble. I can't say what I'd use to cast him though...
I'll think about it.
Thanks for the quick responses, that clarified a lot.

if the noble must be a creature and the only rare or mythic allowed does that mean planeswalkers are not allowed? since planes walkers are all mythic or rare

HEY HEY kor! I got this! lol :P
About what I was saying before about the from the vault set being a way to market this to wizards I think we should make decks around each of these creatures: http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/774 the one that isn't shown is Mikaeus, the Lunarch. I've made two already: deck:omnoble and deck:noble-ulamog. when it comes time to bring this format to wizards we should have a plan on how they can market it. "Buy the from the vault legends set and you can build X noble decks for fun with all of your friends"

elbenji, are you saying that Vendilion Clique should be banned? Seeing as you can only have one in a Noble deck and it does not return to the Noble zone, I don't think that it deserves to be banned. It is not currently on the Ban List.

Ohthenoises, we want people to use noncreature Nobles as well, it is the spirit of the format. Marketing it as only Legendary Creatures will make people think that this is another Commander format.
