Question. Do the Masters Editions for MTGO count for rarity? Because some cards have been lowered in those sets, but they were never technically 'printed'.

April 8, 2012 9:40 a.m.

vishnarg says... #3

No, they don't. The card rarity counts as the lowest it was ever printed in a regular block set, excluding promos and premium deck series or any of that. Just what it was in regular sets.

Noble Flashback

Was the other idea I had. For the format, especially with the new spoilers it seems Miracle could be veryyyyy broken here because of topdecking and cards like BrainstormMTG Card: Brainstorm, Halimar DepthsMTG Card: Halimar Depths and PonderMTG Card: Ponder. The second thing is that since ramp is fairly easy in this format with Rampant GrowthMTG Card: Rampant Growth, Llanowar ElvesMTG Card: Llanowar Elves and Viridian EmissaryMTG Card: Viridian Emissary, Dawntreader ElkMTG Card: Dawntreader Elk, Sakura-Tribe ElderMTG Card: Sakura-Tribe Elder and so forth that cards like the new un-killable angel would be incredibly difficult if at all defeatable because she could not be killed unless someone nobles their DoJ or BSZ

This is a really cool idea for a format. Here's my crack at a noble deck:

Niv-Mizzet (Noble)

Also TappedOut should add the Noble deck category to the deck builder so we can designate our decks as Noble.

i kinda like noble. my problem with competitive edh is that you had to have collected powerful cards over the years to make a good deck, and im a newer player (played kamigawa block then didnt play again till mirrodin besieged). my problem with casual edh is that 100-card decks are annoying to shuffle.

keshav, many of us would ditto your comment numbered 209!

Also I think it would be helpful when making your deck if you set the "Format" to Pauper, well unless we can get Noble as an option but until then.

vishnarg says... #13

Actually Minousmancer, I clearly did say in comment 192 here that we should get Noble as an official deck type. I'm already on that. I asked yeaGO! to do so.

I read your original comment, that doesn't mean it will come to fruition though, hence the wording of my comment.

Essence of the Noble

I've looked up and down this thread for the answer to this question but I can't find it. Does the noble card have to be a creature or can it be a sorcery, artifact, planeswalker, etc.

Are you kidding elifosl? That question has been answered several times. This is the text in the rules description above:

One rare or mythic rare card. This is your Noble card. The Noble card must be rare or mythic rare.

It does not say that it must be a creature. Also, two posts above you someone is using Pyromancer AscensionMTG Card: Pyromancer Ascension as their Noble, which is not a creature.

Zarum says... #23

any card, just has to be a rare or a mythic

April 9, 2012 11:37 a.m.

Arachnarchist says... #24

Just a thought:

Perhaps the starting hand size should be six. Allowing the rare to be a functional seventh card. Thus imitating a scenario where you would always have that rare in your opening hand. I also feel like this would also slow down some combo decks. I know it would hurt my Pyromancer AscensionMTG Card: Pyromancer Ascension deck a little.

I could totally add this to the formatter =)
