To Be Sacrificed:
Blisterpod
: Your only one-drop in the deck. This card is surprisingly effective in getting the job done. He is a disposable 1/1 that can easily be sacrificed, and gives you another thing to be sacrificed when it dies.
Carrier Thrall: Essentially just another
Blisterpod
for one more mana and power. Can attack into a crowd with its 2 power or can provide fodder to be sacrificed.
Sifter of Skulls: A new toy from Oath of the Gatewatch which essentially doubles the output from cards like
Blisterpod
and Carrier Thrall.
Sultai Emissary
: While not looking particularly powerful at first, this card is actually an aristocrat all-star. While the previous two creatures simply provide a token when they die (and that token is a 1/1), this guy provides a 2/2 creature. In addition, that 2/2 creature can be flipped up at any time since it is manifested.
Catacomb Sifter: The Sifter himself is not the thing to be sacrificed, but the scion he gives us when he enters the battlefield.
Whisperwood Elemental
: This tree guy is one of my most favorite cards in the deck. He is kind of like a
Sultai Emissary
on steroids. At the end of your turn, you get a 2/2 manifested creature. This can be extremely effective if it stays on the board long enough, as it gives manpower and sacrificing fodder.
Sacrifice Outlets:
Bone Splinters: This card serves a double purpose. Not only does it trigger all of your synergy when the creature is sacrificed, but it also kills one of your opponent's guys. All for 1 mana.
Evolutionary Leap: When in a pinch, this enchantment allows you to dig for a creature, often one that you need to either be able to sacrifice or to be sacrificed.
Nantuko Husk
: Our all-star sacrifice outlet. He can pull us a win out of nowhere when combined with Rogue's Passage.
Altar's Reap: An instant-speed card draw that also triggers the the abilities when a creature dies? Count me in.
Utility:
Grim Haruspex: A 3/2 body plus free card advantage? For 3 mana? Everything a little boy could possibly want. However, there is a catch. Its ability only triggers when a nontoken creature dies, so it does not trigger when Eldrazi Scions are sacrificed.
Smothering Abomination: Another version of Grim Haruspex. This guy, however, gives us a 4/3 flying body. This does trigger when Eldrazi Scions die, but it does not trigger when are creatures just die. A trick that can be used is if your creatures are the target of a removal, instead sacrifice them with the
Nantuko Husk
and the trigger will happen.
Catacomb Sifter: He gives us a scion when he enter the battlefield, and provides us with a good blocking body. In addition, he gives us the ability to scry 1 when a creature dies, which helps us filter out out cards we don't need.
Evolutionary Leap: As stated before, this can help us dig for creatures when we need a new creature or simply want to trigger our abilities from the creature dying.
Zulaport Cutthroat: Zulaport is greatly underestimated, even though he is extremely powerful. No opponent thinks to remove a 1/1, so he is most likely around to stay. He then helps drain out opponent when our creatures die. This guy is lethal when multiples are on the board.
Tasigur, the Golden Fang: Tasigur helps us in the long game with his ability to turn extra mana into new resources. Your opponent might return a sacrifice-able creature to your hand like
Blisterpod
, which actually can be very helpful.
Reality Smasher: Since we are on a budget,
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
cannot be included. However, this smasher of reality can be very powerful. A 5 mana 5/5 trample haste-er is already good, but then it also has the added ability to counter spells that target it. In addition, it can be tutored from From Beyond's secondary ability.
Bone Splinters: Spot removal.
