I honestly just couldn't find room for it. I guess I could always take out Unsummon but that card is useful more often than not.

Brainstorm gives you access to so much more of your deck, where as Unsummon buys you what, a single turn? I also don't think Careful Study is so hot compared to Brainstorm.
Also Force of Will.

While I agree that Brainstorm is better than Careful Study in most cases, it is not here. Careful Study does a lot of great things for me in this deck. Force of Will is a great card but if I'm exiling cards from my hand rather than discarding them to madness or make my creatures bigger I will have less discard fuel. I want cards in the graveyard not exiled. Thank you for your suggestions.

Brainstorm lets you see so much more of your deck though. There is a reason every blue deck runs Brainstorm and fetches. It is the reason the format flows. Careful Study sets stuff up, but you have 9 other cards that do it better and provide less card disadvantage. Running Brainstorm would also let you cut down to things like 1 Wonder and ensure you have a better chance of seeing your sideboard cards.
And without Force of Will, you just lose to all the fast combo decks. Force of Will is card disadvantage, as you trade 2 of your cards for one of theirs. But if they kill you turn 1, 2 or whatever through Daze, they have invalidated every card in your hand anyway.

Don't worry I don't plan on entering any tournaments with this deck. It's only for competitive kitchen table play. I know all those decks with Force would totally blow me away (believe me I've witnessed it). Though I may take out the creature bounce for a few Brainstorm. We'll see. Thanks for all your advice!

May i suggest the new Champion of Wits? It can be useful if it gets discarded and it can help you trigger madness while also drawing new cards.

That is good suggestion seshiro. Unfortunately my turn 3 plays usually happen at instant speed Arrogant Wurm, Intuition, or countermagic. I will test it out but I don't think it will work into the game plan.

have you thought about Foil counterspell that can be cast for free and allows you to discard cards
Lion's Eye Diamond would seem good if you can afford it

What do you think about Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath in this deck?

Awhile ago, I had considered Uro. There's definitely room to experiment. Thanks for the affirmation.

HUFFDADDY, Finally got around to testing with Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath. It does so much for this deck. Thanks again for the suggestion!

It was my extended deck back in the days!! Needs Aquamoeba and Chrome Mox lol, yea maybe the meta evolved in the meanwhile

Sc1enc3, thanks for your interest in the deck!
If Aquamoeba hadn't been affected by the change in which combat no longer uses the stack, I'd probably have it here as a two of. Having all green creatures can really screw you if someone has pro green.
I can imagine why it was your deck back in the day. This deck is really fun. Not the most competitive anymore (thanks a lot Tarmogoyf!) but still very fun to pilot. Thanks for the +1.

I love this deck. Could you please tell me how competitive is this deck?

YodaVoda, I won't lie to you, Legacy is ridiculously cutthroat and you will end up losing many games with this deck. With that being said, the deck is a blast to play and you WILL have your winning moments. Sadly this deck is probably considered too slow to be competitive enough for tournament play, but don't let that discourage you!
Please don't forget to +1 if you like the deck!

tacolover25 I already +1. I don't know if you saw but i made a budget deck based on yours so i wolud like to know what you think of it.

Have you tried Vengevine? I know a while ago it was played in madness decks

mlequesne, that is a great suggestion. I have indeed tried Vengevine already. In a deck with under 20 creatures, (many with higher than 2cmc) I found that the return from the graveyard was very hit and miss.
Turn 2 I could sometimes get lucky by playing either Wild Mongrel or Noose Constrictor and discarding vengevine and Basking Rootwalla, but overall it felt lackluster. Survival of the Fittest used to enable survivalvine decks back in the day but that card is banned unfortunately.
Thanks for the upvote! Cheers.

Nice UG Madness deck for Legacy, I'm searching for ideas because I'm acquiring a deck like this and I want to improve it. A nice idea I have seen on the deck that I'm buying is Masticore... IDK if it's just a good memory or if it's really a good adition to the deck, but at least it seems to fit the mechanic of the deck.
Please try to check my Argothian 10-Land Stompy! deck for Legacy-format!

The question will always be, why no Brainstorm?
