It's beginning to look a lot like Grixis.

Stand wound is pretty decent but doesn't work very effectively in this deck.

I feel Thassa, Erebos, and Master I feel should be cut for 3 more underworld connections or maybe divination because as control deck (which this obviously is) drawing cards is really the most important part. Card advantage wins games. I feel you'd get left behind. Game one you just out right lose to control and your sideboard wouldn't be enough to stop UWx decks. Yea slaughter games is fun but once sideboard comes in you have to think that they are also gonna be siding in more win conditions making your slaughter games a little laughable.I believe Cyclonic Rift should be sideboard at most just because you already have so many ways to get rid of creatures main board anyways. Anger of the Gods should be main board over Cyclonic Rift. I feel more hand disruption would be a lot stronger against control and maybe a few hard counters. The sideboard needs some work too. Rakdos Charm is cute but thoughtseize is better.
Other than that I believe the deck can become very strong and I am only giving constructive criticisms. Keep calm and control on bro.

RimEdge Thanks for your thoughts! I don't particularly like divination but I could try it. Cyclonic rift is used for planeswalkers, enchantments, and other cards. Rakdos Charm destroys all the god enchantments that are rampant at the moment. UWx doesn't really have more win cons in the sideboard so slaughter games works really well. Counterflux destroys UWx decks and has been a huge success. I do feel like anger could be main board because of all the Aggro withon the meta. I like the idea of three connections but currently I have no way to gain life so I'm not on board yet. I should probably run 2 though. Erebos is a draw engine if I need it and 1 Thassa hasn't really hurt my card advantage. If I use her it's awesome but if I don't it's not a big deal. Thanks for your thoughts! I'm always looking for ways to improve the deck. :)

No problem man! I play control like it's my life but everyone has their own views. +1 for control bros!

@RimEdge very good points. I find that Grixis' main problem, as DrFunk27 and I have discussed is life gain. From a control standpoint, it's basically control/suicide/necropotence to some degree. Pay life, draw cards. While any splash UW control deck (American, Esper) is going to have Draw + gain.
I there are only two things keeping me from building a competitive Grixis deck, mana fixing and ability to gain life. Against most decks, doesn't matter. But that UW control match up is gonna be hell every time because I have to pay to draw, and they get to gain and draw.
You have awesome points, and I hope Born of the Gods gives black a new drain life spell for standard that will allow us a better shot against UW control. But as it stands the hardest match up for a Grixis control deck is going to be any UW control.

DimirPlagueLord Keep an eye on this deck as Born of the Gods comes out. I'm hoping with the additional scry lands this deck can go to the top. I played at a local FNM in Chicago last week and Master of Cruelties is amazing in combo with counterflux. Master doesn't care about lifegain. lol

I'd take out Master of Cruelties for Underworld Cerberus

@ DimirPlagueLord in regards to your comment #17 "And Master of Waves has Pro Red, so Anger of the Gods gets the elementals, but not him."
This is not true, read Anger of the Gods again, it does not specifically target, therefore it hits every creature in play that is a legal target.

But it does deal damage, and since Anger of the Gods is a red spell, Master of Waves 's protection prevents the damage.

I thought so as well. It wasn't a sanctioned event, so I let it go. I romped his blue devo deck anyway, so it really didn't matter. When your running 4 Anger's 2 Mortar's 3 Hero's and 3 Dreadbore who cares about 1 Master of waves that can't block my big bad flyers anyway. LoL.
to me Underworld Cerberus is a good sideboard. I have 2 in my b/w/r sideboard. I don't think I could justify mainboard because of if he dies, and I run massive creature removal, I don't want them getting those creatures back.
January 3, 2014 7:07 p.m.
soulsoar11 Why would I run Underworld Cerberus over Cruelties? Master kills everything with first strike deathtouch and with all the creature removal, why would I kill their things and then if Cerberus dies, allow EVERY creature I killed come back? That is like the ultimate 2 for 1. Thanks for the suggestion, but Master is by far the best choice alongside aetherling and desecration demon in all Grixis decks.

Yup, just reread protection rules via gatherer, my mistake, he wouldn't be exiled, nor would damage be dealt to him.

Read the Bones is quick card advantage for someone who is running aggro. For any control deck you need either a big hit card draw, or sustained card draw. For any black controlish deck Underworld Connections beats out Read the Bones any day in my opinion.

Goblin Electromancer might be good, u have a lot of effected cards...
January 6, 2014 7:35 p.m.
It could be, and that would be fun to playtest but I really don't think I could cut any of the spells and my creatures are pretty strong at the moment.
January 6, 2014 9:02 p.m.
You should run 1 or 2 Jace, Memory Adept in the sideboard vs control match ups dropping him could easily win you the game vs any u/b since they draw so much.
January 9, 2014 5:46 p.m.
Oh and I should have mentioned in my previous post since you're running Master of Cruelties I would try and run Magma Jet . Since it helps smooth the early game or finishing someone off after a hit with Master. Just have no clue what I would recommend to replace. =(

Congrats on stealing your deck name. Great originality. This deck laughs at yours.
