Any advice would be very much appreciated!

The main themes of pirates, as far as I can tell, as that they are a non-token swarm that have amazing enter the battlefield effects. However, they are very fast and adept at sifting through their (and other people's) resources, and synergize well with thievery cards and draw cards (heck, even the commander is a thievery card!). This allows them to shut down opponents quickly, and use their deck against them. Pirates also need some help in late-game combat, and a bunch of tribal boosters might do the trick. Hope this summarizes the ups and downs of pirates correctly.

I'm not the greatest at making decks. However, cards in this deck should fit into one of the following categories:

  1. Pirate Synergy

  2. Thievery, Disruption, and Draw Power

  3. Combat Swingers. Basically, things that let pirates get through or get stronger in a split second (Teleportal, Dynacharge, Open into Wonder etc.)

  4. Utility. These tend to be staples in Commander decks, or just in my opinion work good in the deck... Counter Spells, Instant Damage, Recasting, Board Wipes, etc.
