  1. Draw cards
  2. ???
  3. Profit!

Hello and welcome to my Azami wizard tribal deck. This list is is heavily focused on controlling and comboing out - usually sealing the game around turn 5-8. The deck relies on a massive card advantage maintained by loads of untapping shenanigans and Azami herself. This is a very competitive deck and as such should probberly not be considdered for casual playgroups

The first itterations of this deck included many high cost spells such as Enter the Infinite and Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur. Whilst awesome, they sadly resulted in a high average CMC which, combined with the ammount of draw this deck provides, resulted in mana avaibility being the bottleneck. This itteration has opted to omitting many of the expencive flashy cards in favour of cheaper spells and -cost mana rocks to facilitate the curve slightly. In a nutshell, this deck wants to allmost tap out every turn to cast as many wizards as possible to fuel our commander whilst retaining the option to counter/redirrect harmful spells elsewhere. The current win conditions include casting Laboratory Maniac, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or the recently printed Thassa's Oracle and drawing the entire library through untapping mechanics.

Baral, Chief of Compliance - All round strong creature. Helps us find combo pieces and works wonders with our allready cheap conterspells. Perfect fit for the deck

Captain of the Mists - Cute little dork with multiple untapping mechanics. Good for untapping Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for a large influx of mana

Cursecatcher - Stupidly strong

Fatespinner - Will dirrect a large amount of hatred your way ... but hey, we're not out to make new friends with this deck in the first place anyhow

Glen Elendra Archmage - Comboes with Sage of Fables for infinite Negates

Hapless Researcher - Cute little dork with a guaranteeded draw on him

Jace, Vryn's Prodigy   - whilst you certainly wont be able to defend the transformed version of this card, the immidiate effect he provides more than makes up for this

Laboratory Maniac - Primary win condition

... Rest to come

Chrome Mox, Lotus Bloom, Lotus Petal, Mana Crypt, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Sapphire Medallion, Sol Ring, Thought Vessel - Cheap mana rocks and the only pseudo-ramp we can find in mono blue. The emphasis is on -cost rocks as mana is allways the bottleneck for this deck and, with Azami, card-disadvantage is neigh exsistent. - mana required for Isochron Scepter-combo

Paradox Engine - one of the most absurd cards printed in recent time. Card works wonders with the large list of cheap spells included in the deck and accelerates us into a ludicrous amount of draw when Azami is on the battlefield

Expedition Map - Fetch Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx or one of the untapping lands

Extraplanar Lens - More ramp. Works well with Snow-Covered Islands to ensure that only we reap the benefits

Cryptic Gateway, Isochron Scepter and Paradox Engine - combo pieces

Meekstone - Entirely one-sided card which works to our advantage

Cavern of Souls - Auto-include in all tribal decks

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Since we're in mono-blue, this provides an obscure amount of mana when paired with a decent board. Auto-include

Deserted Temple and Minamo, School at Water's Edge - both included to abuse Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx

Reliquary Tower - Another auto-include in this deck. Provides some much needed recundancy to Spellbook and Thought Vessel

Riptide Laboratory - On the fence about this one. Whilst it can potentially save a key wizard or provide a buttload of ETB triggers, it has been lackluster in the games so far due to the "high" activation cost. Included undtil a more attractive alternative becomes apparent

Snow-Covered Island - Rather than going normal islands I opted to go for these as they interact with Extraplanar Lens and the Rimewind wizards (i.e. Rimewind Taskmage)

Tolaria West - Tutor for Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, a -cost mana rock or Path of Negation

Glen Elendra Archmage + Sage of Fables - "Rule 121.3. If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it as a state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on it. See rule 704."

Cryptic Gateway + Intruder Alarm + 2 untapped wizards - tap the two wizards, cast a wizard which triggers intruder alarm, untapping them. Rinse and repeat. If Azami, Lady of Scrolls is on the battlefield, this easely translates to infinite draw

Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx + Deserted Temple, Minamo, School at Water's Edge, Captain of the Mists or Rimewind Taskmage - usually a ton of blue mana. The latter two works wonders with Intruder Alarm and may well just win the game so long you can keep casting creatures and have a decent devotion to blue

Riptide Laboratory + Snapcaster Mage, Vendilion Clique. Venser, Shaper Savant and so on - Multiple ETB triggers offers ludicrous amounts of control - most of which occurs with instant speed! Also serves to protect key pieces such as Laboratory Maniac from getting removed

Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + from mana rocks - Infinite untaps. If you have 3 or above also nets infinite mana

Naru Meha, Master Wizard + Ghostly Flicker, Illusionist's Stratagem - Each time you flicker Naru, you can also flicker a land or ETB creature for infinite mana or ETB triggers

Azami, Lady of Scrolls + Mind Over Matter - The bread and butter combo for this deck. Draw a card by tapping Azami. Untap Azami with Mind Over Matter and discarding said card. Repeat until you've drawn Laboratory Maniac. Cast him. Proceed to drawing the rest of your library and win the game

Below are cards which havent quite made the list but may find their way in, in future itterations

Elite Arcanist - Pitching this guy a card like Cryptic Command or Turnabout seems bunkers. Even better with Training Grounds or Thousand-Year Elixir. Obviously runs the risk of simply losing that spell if he's instantly removed from the battlefield

Ertai, Wizard Adept - Similar reasoning to Elite Arcanist. Very mana intensive though

Training Grounds - see above

Urza's Incubator - Making already cheap wizards cheaper seems good!

Echo Mage - fits the redirrecting theme. Bit mana intensive though

Omniscience - if this resolves, you've probberly won the game. Omitted due to its high CMC. If I find a decent way of cheating this guy into the battlefield it will most likely get mainboarded again

Inundate - Want to find a spot for this card. Offers a ton of board control but has a bit high CMC

Voidmage Prodigy - Likely to find its way back in at some point. Flexible and strong card with a strong signal for opponents to not mess with you unless they want their things countered

Docent of Perfection   - May seem perfect on a first glance, but its high CMC was always a bit offputting and I always opted to cast several wizards in its place. May find its way back in at some point

Lighthouse Chronologist - Too mana intensive

Beguiler of Wills - Used to be a 2nd wincon. Removed as it was too slow

Hapless Researcher - Cute little wizard dork. Better alternatives exsist today though. If the CMC of the deck gets too high he might end back in however

Thanks for reading! Constructive critism is always appriciated!
