@Hobbez9186 Control is going to be wildly popular because Esper put 2 decks in the semifinals on the pro tour for SOI, so all the people that usually rag on it are probably playing it now :)
Skwarka If there were any suggestion that Hobbez made that I would agree with, it's the set of Sylvan Advocates if you have the ability to pick them up. they give you the out to straight up smash with a fat creature if all else fails. And makes it less grindy repopulating after a sweeper if the game gets to that point.
Funny enough, I usually do run control, and I'm not even running it right now because the format is so diverse that there's just too many builds I want to play. I'm running a rather janky reanimator build that would probably cry against this deck, but is pretty well suited for the ocean of midrange/control players. If you're interested, here it is:

It's not that I don't have the advocates, It's that I don't want to cut anything for them

Truth.
I hate being in that position where I can't decide what to keep. That's why I often make poor decisions when pulling from my sideboard. I like my mainboard so much that I just don't know what to do sometimes. That's why I like running decks with many 4x cards so I can thin as many as I need down to 3x to bring in from sideboard without altering my main too much. In your case, I'd say the card that looks easiest to either thin down or swap to sideboard is the Sylvan Messenger. Having like 2 of them main and 2 Advocates seem like it could work out well and lower the mana curve slightly which would allow you to spread out a little faster.
I mean, you've already won FNM and proven that it works just fine, so it's not like anything NEEDS to change :)

The only things I could recommend cutting at all would be 2 copies of Sylvan Messenger and a copy of each Might of the Masses and Foul-Tongue Shriek. This deck really does have trouble fighting for slots, didn't think there were that many solid choices for elves out there lol.
The deck is already solid though, so it'd just be tuning for next week. Just looking at what changes people might make to adapt to you, and how you can weaken their probable game plans in the upcoming weeks.

It may be a solid deck, but if it only wins 2-1 there is room for improvement.

I really want to keep the messenger because I always want to have elves to play.

That's really the only thing I could see cutting, tbh though. Like I said, this deck is fighting pretty hard for spots. If anything, I'd playtest first trying out any of the other configurations. If any of the cards feel underwhelming at any point in the game, those are the cards you want to cut a couple copies of.

I run a very similar deck, same creatures same instants, same sideboard. Nissa works great. My meta is mainly control and net decking and I also love breaking the meta. Nissa usually gets killed right away unless you play her turn 7. My favorite play is playing her, getting the 7th land, playing a shaman, then playing the land to flip. I use Evolutionary Leap but will cut those for Warping Wail because of all the board wipes going around and it can take out a Hangarback Walker when played for 1 (all the time against this kind of deck). Wonderful deck, ive always loved it.

It is a great card, I wanted to figure out where I could put it not realizing I already had a deck that needed it. Now I was wondering about the mana cost, I can only pay colorless mana for its cost correct?

You only have to have one colorless mana. The other one could be colorless or just any other color. would have made it an amazing card lol, too bad, but it fits well with eldrazi requiring a waste so I'm not mad.

Ok so I need the pain land to pay for its cost then, got it. Thanks

Any thoughts about Sylvan Advocate ? Great deck btw, i love playing elves, but no luck where i play :(
May 17, 2016 6:49 p.m.
The advocate is, in this deck, just a 2/3 for 2 that doesn't help me get more elves. In this deck it just doesn't perform as well as something I'd have to cut for it.

rolls eyes so hard it rips a hole in space-time and creates a singularity
May 17, 2016 7:18 p.m.
Sylvan Advocate itself could be good late game after 6 lands have been played so it would be a 4/5, and since you, nor I, run the green black man land it doesn't help other than that. Not a good choice for the deck because larger creatures are not what the deck is for anyway.
May 17, 2016 7:49 p.m.
It also relies on litteraly drawing 1/3 of all my lands, and all those lands means no elves. In an elf tribal the advocate is more for a mid range deck.
May 17, 2016 7:58 p.m.
It really is, my deck that is similar uses 20 lands. I only get over 7 (for Nissa) is late game if I havent won by then or facing control. I guess it could be helpful if you think youll be facing Languish or Grasp of Darkness to play it late game otherwise I see no reason for it in the slightest, would rather play other stuff, Dwynen's Elite is a favorite two drop of mine.

I've been trying for about 5 hours, and I can't make anything to counter this. Well...good job!
May 18, 2016 1:20 a.m.
Jallious If you are looking for something to counter this deck you would need to run blue because its the only color with counters.
May 18, 2016 5:17 p.m.
Jallious I was a little confused on what you were trying to say. You were trying to counter the deck entirely as in make a bad match up for it or counter the fact that the deck uses Warping Wail? I ask because I have a deck very similar to this.

Yeah, people were really surprised when I showed up one week with mono red goblins. I love breaking meta and bringing decks that weren't just ripped off the pro tour. I played a guy that had a $900 jeskai deck a while back, $300 or more just in his mana pool. Of course he beat me 2-1, but the game I beat him with my $30 home brew was fantastic :)
