A Doubling Season in this would be great, but otherwise this is a fun deck

Song of Freyalise could help you ramp into the 4 or 5 drops cause of how many creatures you will have

If you're really going the spore-counter route, you should definitely give Thelon of Havenwood a try. He's especially good with Fungal Sprouting, as he raises their power by a lot. If you can splash black, or run Utopia Mycon, he's even better at it.

Also, if you really like Sporemound (though personally I don't, as it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the Fungi that well), you might want to run something like Rampant Growth or such to make sure you can get more land drops while its in play, as well as being able to ramp into it earlier.

Thanks for all the suggestions thus far!

I'll consider using some of those.

I'd like to keep this budget, though.

I definitely think there are a few changes that while they up the budget a bit, would be great quality of life improvements.

The first suggestion would be the addition of a Pendelhaven. This should be self-explanatory, but you're in green, and all of your tokens enter as 1/1s generally. Woo. Also, ignore this site's price for the card; you can get this for $2-3 if you get the Masters 25 version.

The second suggestion would be some number of Sword of the Meek. This one, while a bit more expensive, will allow your Saprolings to have more consistent actual damage output and trading potential. Again, a little more expensive than your budget (Yeah, they're actually $6-7 a pop. Sorry.), but would be great additions.

Atop this, I would consider something like Utopia Sprawl if you can spring for it; as it'll help you get your more expensive beaters out in the earlier turns, when they'll be most effective. Not too bad price-wise either, Utopia Sprawl is only $3 ish.

I did see that you wanted to keep your budget, and I know some of these aren't cheap, but they're certainly something you could look at building into in the future :)

Fungal Plots wasn't showing up enough as a two of, so I cut a forest.

I will probably playtest this deck further against my friend's Modern deck later today.

Just realized I had Rot Shambler in another Modern deck I'm scrapping because my friend wants to use Abzan Ascendancy in a Commander build.

Really cool deck, just a little weak against board wipes.

I'm going to go to a LGS today and look for card to swap into this deck.

Plus I'll build a sideboard.

Wouldn't Tendershoot Dryad be perfect in this? And it's pretty cheap too (both price and mana). And maybe a Metallic Mimic to push the tokens even further?

hotdogdude - I'll look into those. Thanks!

As for the rest of the recent suggestions, I'll look into those as well. Thanks a bunch!

I think you should look either into acceleration as the others have suggested or into putting some 1 drops and lowering the curve. Aside from Utopia Mycon there's the good ol' Thallid.

Looking at all the spore counters and +1/+1 counters, I'd imagine Winding Constrictor to be an interesting addition to it, as it would really accelerate your gameplan, but I see you're sticking to mono green. That being said, I think Thelon of Havenwood is a must have, even if you don't splash black. He's cheap anyway!

As for cutting - I'd definitely look into the 5 drops - there's waay to much of them imo. Instead of putting effort into Sporemound and Sporoloth Ancient, I'd suggest you go as low to the ground and swarm your opponent like elves do.

As a final suggestion I think you're in dire need of something like Heroic Intervention. Though the price tag isn't as low as you'd probably like to, at least 2 copies in the sideboard should do the trick.

I feel like you should just go the G/B route so you have access to cards like Fatal Push and Slimefoot, the Stowaway

DrkNinja - I'm probably not gonna splash Black.

I don't imagine you plan on straying from the mono-green set-up. But if you do, Slimefoot, the Stowaway. As i was posting this it stated you have already considered it, sweet ;)

Growing Ranks looks cool. Sundering Growth is neat. Druid's Deliverance maybe? All would really be beneficial with 3-4

An older card i saw, haven't checked prices on it, and its from invasion, which is outside of Modern legality. But. Saproling Symbiosis

I added Druid's Deliverance to the maybe board. Thanks! Now I need to find the playset I think I have somewhere.

Hardened Scales is useless since the only +1/+1 counter card he's running is Mycoloth.
