Sideboard

This deck takes a known, but pretty obscure, Pauper infinite combo (sometimes referred to as "Project X") and builds it into a fairly pro-active & grindy Green/Black aggro shell. What you end up with is a deck that can go to the face with a snowballing Carrion Feeder starting on turn 2 and will quite often just fall into a board state that can create an infinitely large, usually trampling, Carrion Feeder. It's a pretty click-intensive combo on MTGO (even with auto-yields), but without the opponent specifically holding up instant speed disruption it's quite easy to land the combo kill the turn you play Ivy Lane Denizen.

For those unfamiliar with the combo, the setup to get it going is one Carrion Feeder or other sacrifice outlet, one Green persist creature (usually Safehold Elite), and one Ivy Lane Denizen.

The process is:

  1. Sacrifice the Safehold Elite to put a +1/+1 counter on Carrion Feeder

  2. Safehold persists and enters the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter

  3. Ivy Lane Denizen triggers on Safehold's ETB and lets you put a +1/+1 counter on Safehold, completely negating the original -1/-1 from the persist trigger

  4. Repeat until you've got a 300/300 Carrion Feeder with trample via Rancor

Wirewood Herald is a 4-of to tutor for any relevant elf card. Rendclaw Trow is a redundant Safehold replacement, and an effective aggro beater & Gurmag Angler neuterer. Bloodflow Connoisseur is Carrion Feeder 5 & 6. Lead the Stampede lets you load up on your combo pieces through bonkers card advantage (since all combo pieces are creatures and the deck has 34 of them). Borderland Explorer is a great aggressive body with mana smoothing stapled to him (BUT be careful, as this card is bugged on MTGO & having you + your opponent both elect to discard for a land may well take your land and put it in their hand). Rancor is the auto-include Green Stompy piece that gets your infinitely large creatures through. Elves of Deep Shadow and Elvish Mystic help cut down on lands while feeding a Carrion Feeder or carrying a Rancor in to battle. Elvish Herder is a 1-of tutor-able trample effect for when they have answers for all your Rancors.
