Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius "has no patience for minds that do not inspire him or explode by trying.". But thoose who got his attention are sent to the deepest Izzet laboratories. Here, there's no room for creativity without recklessness to try all the possibilities, nor impulsivness without brilliance to test and push it to the limits. In thoose rooms filled with pipes, boilers and machines, nobody dares saying "impossible" before experimenting.

And it's been some months since the Firemind conceded a laboratory to Mizzix of the Izmagnus. Now, the ancient Dragon leader awaits her in Nivix, Aerie of the Firemind, where she will present everything that was researched...

Welcome to my Mizzix of the Izmagnus commander deck!

As you probably saw in other lists, the idea is to make good use of mana-cost cards, spells with Buyback, (Multi)Kicker and also the Izzet-themed Overload.

This list is just a initial scratch. If you have any suggestion, please leave a comment! Remember that this deck is meant to be casual.

The main aspects that I'll be looking for in the first matches are:

a) Ramp;

b) Mizzix threat on board;

c) Need (or not) for more creatures;

d) Effectivness of these costed cards;

e) Benefit from Proliferate mechanic;

Some Pondering:

  • There are a lot of interesting cards like Flow of Ideas, Knowledge Exploitation and Pyromancer's Goggles, but I still need to test the deck to find a good balance between draw/counter/ramp/creature cards.

  • For Mizzix protection I'll be running Swiftfoot Boots and of course the counter spells. Crystal Shard is a very interesting card because it can annoy the opponents, but also protect the Izzet lady by calling her to the hand! Obviously we got Lightning Greaves and Spellskite as options to consider.

  • A play that I'm looking foward to do is Intuition for Mizzix's Mastery + Mystic Retrieval plus another explosive card or maybe a counter. No matter what they choose, it can be recovered with Mystic Retrieval for or .

  • My initial thoughts was too put High Tide and Seething Song, but there are other ways to combo and these card don't do "anything" by themselves. Yes, they can ramp and even combo, but in a lot of situations they'll be just dead in hand. I'm not disconsidering them completely, though.

  • Another thing I'm considering is trying to Traumatize myself into a potential game winning Overloaded Mizzix's Mastery...
