Welcome one and all, to Izzet Eldrazi in Standard, a midrange deck utilizing synergies between colourless creatures for unexpected damage and value!
Card Choices:
Ghostfire Blade
- Incredible synergy with our devoid creatures. Extremely cheap way to turn early creatures into threats requiring an answer, all the while keeping the artifact itself untouched mostly.
Mist Intruder - Primary ingestor engine for the deck, and can hit for reasonable damage in the air with
Ghostfire Blade
.
Vile Aggregate - A powerful threat that can be established early on, and continues to grow in strength as your board is developed, requiring answers soon. Good target for
Ghostfire Blade
, and has trample AND ingest. Nasty.
Herald of Kozilek - A must have in this deck, its ability provides huge tempo swings for our deck, allowing us to play our threats and turns more efficiently. Nearly every spell in the deck is colorless, plus it has a big butt for blocks.
Blight Herder/Drowner of Hope - Scions synergize with Vile Aggregate as well as with each other. Drowner provides evasion for finishers later on. Blight Herder is surprisingly easy to turn on with early Mist Intruders.
Brutal Expulsion
- Another utility tool that helps us exile cards or swing tempo into our favor. Cheap to cast with Herald of Kozilek online and is overall a powerful tool at our disposal.
Crater's Claws
- With the number of scions we produce and the amount of land we may draw due to lack of fetches, having an X-mana sink is very useful, and Crater's Claws fits that role perfectly. Flexible removal, easy to hit ferocious, or use it as a late game finisher.
Sideboard is highly customizable. I went with a more control oriented style, having counter magic and removal for flexibility in things like
Wild Slash
and Negate. Tide Drifters are included as a four-of against aggro matchups, not much they can do against 5-toughness walls that give your other dudes bigger butts.
So that's the deck! For under $45, you can run a flexible midrange Eldrazi deck that utilizes synergies to defeat the opponent. Try it out yourself and let me know what you think!
