Deck Explanation:

The Creatures:

My creature base is all about improving the power of my creatures through casting instant and sorcery spells. For this I have chosen Nivmagus Elemental and Kiln Fiend as I believe they are the most efficient low CMC creatures to accomplish this goal. I also run two Flamekin Harbinger for the purpose of grabbing out the Kiln Fiend if I do not draw one early. I have chosen to avoid Nivix Cyclops because it leads to some odd timing restrictions for when I need to try to combo off and the deck tries to win by turn 3 if possible.

The Sorceries:

For Sorcery Speed spells my main goal is to give my creature unblockable with a Artful Dodge or Distortion Strike. This allows me to avoid the low mana creatures some decks use to either build up an aggressive base or to hold while they set up their combos. Gitaxian Probe is mainly in the deck as a free cantrip on the hopes of drawing into more free spells. Looking at someone's hand for kill spells and the like is also great before going into Pacts.

The Instants:

My Instant Speed base is the core of how I hope to power up to 20 on a Kiln Fiend or get a Nivmagus Elemental strong enough to get them in 2-3 turns. Manamorphose is there as a free card to up my spell count, pretty much the same roll it serves in Storm. Mutagenic Growth offers +5/+2 to my creature for the low cost of only 2 life. Lightning Bolt is great for the final reach, a source of sure damage after my creature hits or an effective 6 damage for only 1 red mana. The Pact spells are my favorite part of the deck though for the sheer value the can have if I can go for the immediate win or exiling them out to a Nivmagus Elemental.
