Hello everyone,I have been working on this Izzet Gift deck leveraging its ability to easily put creatures in the graveyard activate/tutor for Gate of the Afterlife. It is simple and fun. Here is how it works. Please note this is still a brew, so changes and recommendations are really welcome - especially how to deal with Scarab God.
Deck record is currently 14-5.
1) Fanatical Firebrand, Bomat Courier, Minister of Inquires and Walking Ballista (all 4x each) are your ways to filling the graveyard with creatures. Once you have Gate to the Aetherlife down, each one puts at least two creatures at a time (not to mention Bomat discarding your hand or ballista killing your own creature if needed).2) Once the graveyard has 6 creatures, activate Gate to the Aetherlife. Unless under specific circumnstances, if you don't have either Gate to the Afterlife, nor Throphy mage nor Champion of Wits in your starting hand, mulligan.3) As you mill yourself or discard cards, Combat Celebrant and Lightning Runners will be put into your graveyard. Those cards are AMAZING with GPG, since you can generate new combat phases, which mean new GPG activations. If you have two Celebrant on the graveyard, loop gets infinite :) 4) I have won several games on the plan B (Aggro) approach, since deck has 8 1x1 haste, ballistas, etc.5) As far as sideboard goes, Negate and Saheeli are great vs control (Saheeli can copy the GPG or Gate). Abrade helps dealing with airtfacts (including the Graveyard hate one), and Sweltering Suns and Virtuoso helps stopping agro decks so that you have time to build your win path.
