Concept deck that is super speedy, and hopefully a turn 4 or 5 win.
I have been playing a lot of U/W control, and focusing on milling. In my opinion, there is no better Mill for your Buck than a 5th turn Traumatize, and watching your opponent get angrier and angrier as they count out there entire library one and a half times.
But then one day, a friend of mine decided to turn it around on me, by playing a Wild Ricochet to my Traumatize. GG for him. Annoyance for me.
But it got the gears turning. How in the hell am I going to turn that around?? In what possible way is it great to mill yourself nearly out??
TA-DAH! Spellheart Chimera!!!
This little guy has become a staple in all of my Izzet decks, but with that game, I saw how insanely unstoppable he could be.
The concept behind the deck is NOTHING over 3 CMC, save for the Traumatize. I want quick burn/easy counter for the beginning of the game, ensuring a pretty clear board. I also want very little in my hand for those pesky Thoughtseize and Duress decks. Blech.
Then, top it with some scry. The idea is to get to your spellhearts as quickly as possible, and have them already out and hitting for 3ish by turn three. If someone tries to get rid of him, the Mizzium Skins come out, keeping him safe from removal and burn, while also bumping him up even higher. It's overload cost is cheap as well, keeping your other critters safe! The Guttersnipes and Young Pyromancers will help keep some weenies on the board, and tick away at any other creatures that have managed to get through, or just hammer away more at your opponent. All the while CHEAP burn from Shock,
Flames of the Firebrand
and Magma Jet is either clearing out more creatures, or hitting for more direct damage, with the added scry. If everything is going well, by turn five, I traumatize myself, and the spellheart glides over to perform the fatality. (FINISH HIM! or HER! whatever applies.)
Goblin Electromancer is in the deck to make it a possible turn 4 victory, while also synching up with the cheap burn and counter..
Sideboard is completely up for debate, just trying to find ways around someone locking down either the Spellheart or the Traumatize.
As for the maybe's Jace, Memory Adept is hanging around because all of his abilities are pretty well helpful for both sides of this deck. +1 him for card advantage and to dig further, 0 him to help boost your Chimera, or if god forbid you get to his finishing, dig further, discard most of your hand, and huge Chimera ATTACK!
Purphoros, God of the Forge is also a maybe, considering his synching up with the pyromancer for an instant GG.
This deck is designed to be fast, not for long control matches. If you find yourself going up against that, hopefully all of the burn will help you prevail.
This is yet untested, and in need of feedback. Hopefully going to play it tomorrow at FNM!
